The Josie story: It all started in a garage.... Three friends withan awsome talent for music and a funky home grown fashion sense, started a band called The Pussycats. Josie, Melody and Valerie started off playing their unquie sound of pop/punk/rock to the locals of Midvale, and now have hit the bigtime after signing with a large record company, Mega records...... and renamed, Josie and the Pussycats.

Based on the Archie comic characters.... Josie, Mel, and Val, they lived in a town called Midvale, which is so close to Riverdale ( yes where Archie, Betty and Veronica live. ) that most people just consider it the same town. Soon, The Pussycats Comic strips started appearring in the Archie comic books, and pretty soon they had their own TV show. The cartoons were very popular when realeased in the 70's, but were pretty much unknown in this generation, until the frenzy of the Josie and the Pussycats movie.

"Josie and the Pussycats started as a comic book in the early 1960s, before the phrase "drugs, sex and rock'n'roll" became truly in vogue. In the early 1970s the comic book was spun into a cartoon that followed the mystery genre, patterned after the successful Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? cartoons. The Pussycats were then brought into the space age during the era of the final Apollo missions to the moon and the launch of Skylab, and in the final two seasons their series was called Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space. The on-screen exploits of Josie, Mel and Val were welcomed by a faithful few in 2001, and their updated music gave us songs like "Three Small Words," "Spin Around," "You Don't See Me," and "Pretend to be Nice." There was some surprise that the soundtrack to Josie and the Pussycats performed better in stores than the movie did while in theatres. While Josie spent several weeks in the top 20 following it's release, it didn't make enough of a dent at the box office for it to break even and quickly faded from the movie screen." - one of the reviews given to the new josie and the pussycats events..
