The dictionary is an
illustrated dictionary of Visayan plant names with their
scientific (Latin taxonomic) names, Tagalog and English
equivalences (the first plant dictionary in Visayan
language). It presents a documentation of data on natural plant resources such as native medicinal plants, plants for handicrafts, timber trees, etc. The book also reports of exquisite trees that have become very rare due to over-exploitation. And it intends to motivate people to care for plants and protect rare species. The ethnobotanical interviews were conducted with most knowledgeable people such as herbolarios and midwifes (medicinal plants, ghost beliefs, other uses in the community). |
