April 7, 2000

So, I thought that I was actually going to be able to sleep in this morning…WRONG!

I volunteered myself to help out my service fraternity with an Easter Egg hunt. I guess that if I had to wake up at 8:00am on a Saturday morning, it should be for something fun like watching little kids collect eggs with cool prizes and candy. Dom and I got ready, and we drove over to the park where everything was taking place.

Why can't life always be this easy???

There was five different age groups, and it took us about an hour to disperse the eggs. When the kids started to come with their parents, we told everyone the rules, and finally the horn blew for the kids to start collecting eggs. What took us "adults" and hour to set up, took the little kids three minutes to clean up. I was absolutely amazed. But, it was all good because everyone had fun.

When I got back to the dorms, Todd called…again…and he wanted to hang out. I went to his room, and he decided that we should drive up to Des Moines to see some Mexican group perform. I could only imagine why, but I went along anyway. It was pretty decent. Afterwards, we went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill, and I got to draw with crayons on the "table cloth." At least I got to regress back to my childhood activities. Dinner was delish, and the conversation was decent.

I told Todd that I had to get back to Ames, and we drove back. We hung out in his room for a little, and fooled around…what's new?! I left him after we were "finished," and I went to Dom's room. She told me that K, a friend of ours, had a wild hair up his ass, and he wanted to attend a formal that was going on at one of the chapters of our service fraternity. She and I got ready, and K picked us up…but not without problems.

I was working on my chapter treasurer accounts, and I was running late. So, when I actually got dressed and primped, I noticed that I couldn't find my wallet anywhere. I called Todd, the restaurant we went to, and Dom. No one had it…and so I just said screw it. K was at the dorm, and I walked to his car. I noticed that Jody was walking with Dom… She went away for the weekend with her mom to do some horse show, and I guess she got back early. We all left for Drake… and back to Des Moines I went.

I took a nap in the car like always, and we were there. We surprised everyone.. All the regional staff welcomed me with a congratulations on my presidency…hehe.. I was so elated. I met a new region staff guy that was paying special attention to me…hmm?!!!

Dom, Jody, and I danced the night away…probably pissing off Julie…cuz she had no idea we were all coming. But, I got to see a lot of people I wanted to, and I had a talk with some of my region staff buds. After the dance, the regional guy that was paying special attention to me invited me to his after party…so we all headed over to his apartment and drank a little.

It was a pretty lame get together, and it was really late..so we all left. It was a fun evening…it events like this that keeps me involved and passionate about APO…I just hope that next year is filled with times like tonight…
