Fun Quotes and Stories
(2/07)
We were recently watching the movie "8 Below" about sled dogs
stranded in Antarctica. One of characters was a cartographer (which he
mentions several times in the film). Later, as they are roaming the icebergs
in Antarctica, I asked how they could possible navigate through the terrain-
which all looks the same. Henry assured me that they navigate without a
problem because they had a choreographer with them.
___
We have been
trying to spot the license plates fro all 50 states. We kept seeing
plates from New Jersey and Henry said: "what is this New Jersey with
lower speed limits?"
___
We
have been talking about New Years resolutions around the new year. For
some reason, Henry and Calvin kept calling them New Years revolutions.
Calvin said that his New Year revolutions were to become better in basketball
and reading.
Henry said that he wanted to make Two Year revolutions because they would last
longer.
___
We were reading a book at bed time and in the book was a
reference to the word “fanatic”. Henry
asked what it meant and I told him that sometimes people who are really crazy
about a team might be called fanatics.
Henry thought for a moment and said that he was about half a
foot from being a Red Sox fanatic.
___
Henry
was playing checkers by himself and said: “I’m playing checkers against
myself and I am winning”, with surprise and pride in his voice.
The next day, he said of his checkers game: “I’m doing OK, but he is
playing really hard.
Denise asked: “Who’s he?”
Henry: “The guy I’m playing against me.”
___
I
asked Calvin what he
wanted to be when he grows up. He
thought for a minute and said: a pizza guy (the guy who delivers pizza).
At the dinner table that night, I asked him to tell Denise what he told
me. He was afraid that we were
going to laugh so he made us all pinkie promise not to.
Denise and I were both worried that Henry would laugh anyway.
When Calvin told us he wanted to be a pizza guy, Henry, completely
serious, said that he didn’t think it was funny at all- he thought it was a
great idea.
