THE JOKERZ

The guise of the second (in the TAS continuity) Robin was used by Tim Drake, a thirteen year-old street kid adopted by Bruce Wayne. Tim's real father was a small-time hood who stole money from Two-Face and then skipped town to escape the villain's wrath. When Two-Face caught Tim for his father's whereabouts, Batman saved the day. Admiring Tim's courage and fighting skills, Batman took him under his wing and a new Robin was born.

Tim worked on the Bat-team for a couple of years until he was captured by the Joker, who experimented on him, reworking him into a junior version of himself.

As "J.J.", Tim nearly brought the demises of Batman and Batgirl until he was put under the high pressure of killing Batman and snapped killing the Joker instead. Whether he did it out of revenge or that he couldn't control himself is still yet to be answered today.

Even though Robin was free of the Joker's clutches physically, he wasn't mentally. It took Batman's friend, Leslie Thompkins a year to return him to a sane man. Still Batman refused to endanger Tim again, and told him and everyone else on the team to retire. Currently Tim is in his mid forties and a technician.

While Joker had Tim in his clutches for three weeks, he did more than just turn Tim into J.J. Joker was actually a genius, ahead of his time. He wrote his DNA structure on a microchip and put it in "Bird Boy's" brain. It took several decades to rewrite the cellular structure, but by the time Terry had donned the batsuit, Joker had taken over Tim's mind and planned his big return to Gotham City. During Joker/Tim's last Battle with Batman (Terry), Batman used his electrical handbuzzer to fry the microchip returning Tim back to his normal self.
