THE JOKERZ

One terrible moment forever changed the life of Bruce Wayne. In an alleyway in Gotham City before Bruce's very own eyes, a mugger killed his parents in cold blood before fleeing into the night. Years later he became the Batman to sweep the city clean of the scum who caused his parents' death.

Wayne devoted his life and his fortune to protecting Gotham City and its citizens from a host of menaces and "evil-doers". Such notorious costumed criminals as Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Scarecrow, Bane, and Ra's Al Ghul, among many others, all tried and failed to defeat the original Batman and his partners.

One of Batman's major foes was and always has been the Joker. They've fought a private war for almost twelve years. Each time the Joker got nearer and nearer to causing Batman's mind to snap, but has always failed, until he brought Robin over to the "dark side" when he turned him into a junior version of himself: J.J. causing him to betray his friends and nearly kill them. When Batman saw what Joker has done he released all his hatred for the Joker and beat him to a pulp. Joker did manage causing Batman to force all his partners off the Batsquad, afraid something similar might happen to them. Joker also managed to leave Bruce a reminder by stabbing Bruce in the leg, giving Bruce his limp.

With his limp, Batman realized how vulnerable he was so he started to construct a suit to increase his strength along with other modifications in it (which later became Terry's suit of war). At age 50, Batman fought his last case when he got a heart attack in the middle of a fight, and was forced to use a gun, to prevent his attacker from killing him. Using the same instrument that was used to kill his parents, Bruce never forgave himself, and gave up his Batman persona forever.

Now much older, and having long since retired from active adventuring, Bruce spends his time running Wayne Enterprises and helping Terry McGinnis fight crime as the new generation's Batman.
