After watching a performance with Miss Chen (Kara Hui), Mr. Tuan (Lo Lieh) comes up with a plan to have her as his own. Mr. Tuan gets Miss Chen's brother, Chen (Liu Chia-Liang), drunk. Then he and his wife set Chen up to make it seem as though he has raped Mr. Tuan's wife. When Chen wakes up, he doesn't know what happened and doesn't know if he has done wrong or not.
Mr. Tuan tells Chen that the punishment for rape is death. So in order to keep her brother from being killed, Miss Chen offers to become Mr. Tuan's concubine. He accepts the offer (just what he wanted) but orders his men to cripple Chen's hands. He tells Chen that next time he holds a glass of wine, he'll remember what he did.
Then the movie goes to about 5 years later. Chen is shown in a small town, putting on a show with his monkey for money. He later meets Monkey (Hsiao Hou), a petty thief. Chen decides to teach him Monkey kung fu to defend himself.
*While he is learning monkey kung fu, he goes about his day walking like a monkey. I thought that was so funny.
Anyway, after Monkey has learned enough, he beats some bad guys in town. Then he meets Mr. Tuan and is challenged by him and beaten. During this, Monkey finds out about how Chen was set up and meets his sister.
Monkey returns to Chen and tells him what he's learned and how he was beaten by Mr. Tuan. So Chen teaches Monkey more of his kung fu style. [At this point, there's some really good background music.]
Once Monkey's training is over, he and Chen go to Mr. Tuan to take revenge.
