Day of the Dead follows on from where Dawn left us. The world is in ruins and contact with other civilisations is non-existent. The film commences with one of the most horrific images in cinema history - a city that is totally deserted and devastated. Thousands of dollar bills blow around the road as their value pales into insignificance. Looking for other people, four of the films protagonists - Sarah, John, McDermott and Miguel - manage to rouse hundreds of the dead, presenting us with yet another haunting vision.
The film continues in an underground missile silo and presents us with a scenario not too dissimilar to Night of the Living Dead. The remaining humans are divided into two distinct groups - the people who are trying to develop a cure for the disease, and the military who find it hard to wait for results. Cue many extreme conflicts and fighting, before an adrenaline filled finale. Will the Dead have their Day afterall?
