I apologize for the silent but we were out of Madrid due to work,
not vacation. On my return besides your mails I received an invitation
to attend to a meeting in Beinwil, this invitation is in German so I
need some time to translate it but roughly it says there is going to
be a party on May 15, is the GROLIMUND-FEST 1999. Alois Grolimund
is in the ORGANIZATION COMITEE and they attach a list with the
addresses of at least one hundred Grolimunds. Most of them in
Switzerland, some in Spain (my family) and more.... if you wish,
I could fax it to you but I need a fax number.
I will write more as soon as I translate the invitation.
Best regards,
Carlos

I lost the copy of the e-mail I sent
to Carlos and Claudia the week before the Fest.
The message was to send my regards to the cousins
and to send my regrets for not attending.

Bill and Sandy:
We came back from Switzerland last night and we are more or less tired
because we had a very tight schedule there.
I will tell you the whole thing and will send pictures in the near future.
This is just to tell you that everything was great, we had a real good
time and everybody was very nice.
I printed your mail and gave it to Alois Grolimund and he is going to get
in touch with you. (He was feeling really happy).
Best regards,
Carlos and Claudia

Carlos and Claudia,
Thanks for the news on the reunion. It sounds like a good time was
had by all. I wish I could have been there.
Does Alois have e-mail yet? I guess not, or you would have told me.
You said "He was feeling really happy." Was that the wine, or was
he just glad to see everybody?
I look forward to the pictures and to hearing from Alois.
Did Tio Paco [[[ Uncle Frank ]] go with you?
I left a URL address at home, I will send later. It is to a web page
in Puerto Rico under the name of smile.html. * * * Sonriendo. * * *
Best regards

Hi there,
Alois does not have an e.mail although his son Rainard does, I will
forward it to you as soon as I find it (I wrote it in a paper, and I
got to look for it.) No, he was feeling really happy because of the
success of the Fest, although all of us (including 90 years old people)
drank a lot of wine, and ate a lot also.
Uncle Paco did not go, nor my parents, it was a real shame but they
are old and not in a pretty good shape. Claudia recorded everything
with her video camera and on Sunday we will have everybody for lunch
and they will see if she did a good job or not.
I will continue informing.
Best regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
I found that URL that I told you about.

Alois was happy for the success of the fest and I'm sure
he also enjoyed the wine. How many people attended?
How far did they all come? Did they also come from France?
Did you learn more about the ancestors? What is the language
called Romansh.?
What are the plans for the next fest? Every year, or every 5 years?
Please forgive so many questions. I am mostly just asking
them of myself, thinking aloud.
In July I am going to a 40th reunion of my high school class.
That will be only about the 3rd reunion I have been to visit. It
is a long trip to Pennsylvania from Florida. And we lived 15
years in the Virgin Islands, which was even more distant.
I am happy that the Grolimunds were happy. I can
feel the joy. Maybe there is a way to make a copy of
the video tape. I would enjoy seeing the fest.
Best regards,
Bill

Bill,
Alois was happy for the success of the fest since everything was
very well organized and 110 people attended. Most of them from
the nearby areas. We learned a lot about the ancestors since we
had the opportunity to go to the Historical Archive in Solethurn,
the capital of the Canton. We learned great histories about war
with Napoleon, abour work in the fields and about how Grolimunds
helped the church.
Most of them are Catholic and in Beinwill there is the Kloster
(a beautifull abbey). We had a ceremony at the church and the
priest told us the things the church did for the family, since
1640 and two Grolimund men answered telling the things the family
did for the church. As soon as we have the whole history written
in Spanish, Claudia will translate it into English so that you get it.
We head about Romansh, but we are not sure about it.
They plan the next fest for 2004. They are celebrating it every
5 years, although they wanted this one to be great since it was
the last in the millenium, there was a five course menu.
We understand you have so many questions and ls. Do not hesitate
to ask. My father and uncle Paco are so excited and are making
as many questions as you.
I hope you have a great time in the 40th reunion of your high
school class.
What did you do on the Virgin Islands for such a long time?
Claudia has to edit the video tape to fix a few things but afterwards
we will make a copy for you, Alois also asked for another copy.
Best regards,
Carlos
