"Mommy bye bye?" Hayley asked looking up at me, her beautiful eyes sparkling.
"Maybe and Hayley too!" I told her.
"Yea!" she exclaimed. She climbed up on the toilet and watched me intently as I applied a little bit of makeup.
"I cant believe you're going on a date," Ashley said walking by the bathroom.
"Shouldnt you be at work?" I asked.
"Im going in two hours later than usual," she told me.
"Oh," I sighed.
Just then the doorbell ran and I jumped. Hayley looked up at me shocked and jumped down from the toilet. Her and Ashley got to the door before I could and Brian stood there, a bouquet of flowers in hand.
"Hi, is MacKenzie here?" he asked smiling.
"Mommy!" Hayley shreiked and ran to me. Ashley had moved out of the way, so Brian could see who Hayley was running to.
Brian looked shocked.
"Mommy?" he asked, more like stuttered.
"Yeah," I whispered.
"Wow," he breathed.
"You dont have to stand there. You can either come in or go home. I wont be offended if you dont want to take me out," I told him.
He didnt say a word, just stepped inside. I smiled, ok he was giving it a little thought.
"I dont want to take you out," he told me.
I looked at him, a little taken aback. Ok, at least he was blunt about it. I dont know why I suddenly felt upset, this isnt the first time this has happened. Maybe because I actually did like this guy, no matter how much I told myself that I didnt.
"Ok," I said looking away.
"I wanna take both of you," he said. I looked up at him, not expecting to hear that.
"Huh?" I asked.
"I want her to come along," he told me.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah, why not?" he asked looking at me confused.
"It's just, usually,most guys dont..." I stammered.
"Im not like most guys," he told me.
I smiled and felt like just running up to him and hugging him, but I didnt.
"What's her name?" he asked kneeling down to look at Hayley at her level.
"Hayley," I answered.
"Well, hello Hayley. Im Brian," he said taking her little hand in his. I smiled and felt my heart melt.
"Bye bye?" she asked.
"Yeah, we're going bye bye," he smiled.
"You ready?" he asked.
"Um, yeah, but I dont think a car seat will fit in your car," I told him.
"No, I dont have the BMW, I got my friend's Mercedes. He wanted to borrow mine, so I got his," he laughed.
"Oh," I nodded.
Must be nice to have such nice cars. We walked outside and I got the car seat out of the car and Brian put it in the black Mercedes that sat in my driveway. Hayley climbed into her seat and I buckled her up. I started to walk to the other side of the car, but Brian beat me to it.
"Here you go," he said opening the car door for me. I giggled. No one has ever done that for me.
I put Hayleys bag and my purse at my feet and waited for Brian to get into the car.
Finally we were off.
"So, I was thinking dinner and then whatever we felt like after that?" Brian asked.
"Sounds good," I smiled.
"Anything you want in particular for dinner?" he asked.
"Im up for anything, really," I smiled.
"Ok, Hayley, what do you want for dinner?" he asked.
"Taco,"she told him. I laughed.
"Taco?" he asked.
"It's her favorite. But then again, she answers Taco to anything you ask her," I laughed.
"Well, tacos it is. How's Don Pablos?" he asked.
"That's fine," I answered. I was figuring he'd say Taco Bell, but...
"We're here, Hay Hay," I said when Brian parked the car. I got out and walked to the other side and got her out.
"Ready for some tacos?" I asked. She nodded and took my hand then took Brian's hand.
"She likes you," I told him smiling.
"Well, I like her," he said smiling down at her.
We walked into the restaurant and were immediatly seated.
I looked over the menu and decided to just got the 3 tacos platter, Hayley could have one of my tacos.
"Here's a crayon and and activity sheet for your daughter," the waitress said handing the paper and crayon to Brian. I covered a laugh. Brian just took the paper and crayon and set it down in front of Hayley, who had insisted on sitting by him.
"Thank you," I told the waitress.
"No problem, I'll be out in a minute with your drinks," she told us and walked off.
"So, how old is she?" Brian asked looking down at Hayley.
"Two and a half," I answered.
"She's beautiful," he said.
"Thank you," I replied.
"Why didnt you tell me you had a daughter?" he asked.
"You didnt ask," I said looking up at him.
"True, but why didnt you mention her or anything?" he asked.
"Honestly?" I asked. He nodded.
"Because, usually when guys find out I have a kid, they dont want anything to do with me," I answered.
"So, you wanted something to do with me?" he asked smiling.
"Yeah, well..." I trailed off.
He laughed, "Good thing I didnt give up."
"Yeah," I smiled.
"I could get used to a kid. If you let me, of course," he said glancing down at Hayley and then back up at me.
"If you think you can handle it," I told him.
"I think it will be worth it," he told me.
I blushed.
"Here are your drinks," the waitress setting our drinks down.
"Juice?" Hayley asked.
"Uh huh, here, have some of Mommy's," I said leaning over the table and letting Hayley get some.
By the end of the meal, it was about eight o'clock. Hayley was knocked out, her head laying on Brian's lap and her favorite blanket covering her body. I smiled down at her.
"She must've had a rough day," I laughed looking at her.
"Well, I guess we better get her home and into bed," Brian said. I reached for the check, willing to pay my half. Brian snatched it away.
"Im paying," he told me.
"Are you sure, because..." I offered.
"It's fine. I took you out, remember?" he asked.
"Thank you," I said.
He looked down at the bill and pulled out a credit card. It wasnt long before we were pulling into my driveway.
"I'll help you bring her in," Brian offered.
"Thanks," I smiled. I pulled her out of her carseat, her body resting against mine and her head automatically falling to my shoulder. Brian took out the car seat and we walked to the front door.
I unlocked the door and we walked in. I walked back to my room and laid Hayley down in the bed. When I walked out to the living room, Brian was standing ackwardly, looking around.
"Do you want to come in?" I asked smiling.
"Sure," he nodded.
"Do you want to watch a movie or something?" I asked.
"That sounds good," he nodded.
"What will it be?" I asked.
"What do you have?" he asked.
"Blue's Birthday," I said showing him the tape, "Sesame Street," another tape held up, "And the best of them all, 'The Lion King'."
He smiled and sat on the couch.
"Just kid movies?" he asked.
"Well, my sister's got Dirty Dancing somewhere around here," I said rummaging through some movies.
He laughed and stood up. He walked over to the radio and turned it on.
"Let's dance," he said holding his hand down to me. I looked up at him. I havent danced since high school.
"Ok," I said taking his hand. He pulled me up and wrapped his left arm around my waist and held my left hand with his right.
"Know how long it's been since I danced?" I asked, chuckling as our bodies moved to the beat.
"How long?" he asked.
"Three years," I answered.
"I like to dance," he told me, his face dangerously close to mine.
"Me too," I replied looking at his beautiful lips. I wanted to so badly for him to lean down and kiss me.
"Can I kiss you?" he whispered.
"I thought you'd never ask," I smiled. He smiled as he moved his face closer to mine. He pressed his lips to mine, soft and gentle. I got this tingley feeling and my heart started pounding. At the same time we opened our mouths and our tongues were introduced. It was nice and fulfilling at first and then it started to get passionate.
Brian and I stopped dancing and continued the kiss. When we broke away we looked into each others eyes.
I cant even explain what I saw in his eyes, but I loved it and I didnt want to ever stop looking into those beautiful blue eyes.
