Chapter Four

*MacKeznie & Kirsten*

As Kirsten and MacKenzie boarded the plane sadly, they both looked back birefly and said good-bye to Tampa.

"I can't believe this is happening," Kirsten sobbed once they found their seats.

MacKenzie's face looked like stone, "It had to be done, there's too much at stake."

Kirsten nodded knowing that her friend was right, "it's just...I'm going to miss Brian so much. I never imagined life without him."

"Don't you think I'm going to miss A.J?" MacKenzie snapped.

"Noone made you leave,"

"I'm sorry, I'm just upset." MacKenziue apologized.

"With good reason, I'm so sorry any of this had to happen." MacKenzie smiled and wrapped Kirsten in to a warm hug,

"Me too..."

*The Apartment*

"At least it's spacious," Kirsten said trying to be cheerful as she roamed around the 2-bedroom apartment.

"Yeah,"

"Where is the baby going to sleep?"

"We'll have to put the crib in your room."

"Hopefully by the time the baby's old enough for a big bed we'll be able to live in our own apartments or houses or mansions."

MacKenzie laughed, "True..."

Kirsten went into the room they decided would be hers and began to unpack what little belongings she had. She pulled her favourite picture of her and Brian that was taken at the beach. She traced her finger on his face and struggled not to cry.

"I love you," she told the picture.

She laid down in her bed and rubbed her stomach, "I'm sorry you''ll have to go through this," she told her baby. She stood up and continued unpacking everything having to do with her and Brian was placed where she could see it. Once she was done with her unpacking she went over to MacKenzie's room.

Suprisingly, there was nothing to remind MacKenzie of AJ in the room, no pictures, no almost-empty bottles of cologne, old t-shirts like Kirsten had. The walls were bare and MacKenzie was sitting on the bed looking through a newspaper.

"We have to get jobs soon," MacKenzie muttered handing a sheet of the classifieds to Kirsten and a red pen.

Kirsten sat cross-legged on the floor and began circleing possibilities.

MacKenzie and Kirsten took turns for the next hour calling places trying to get an interview. Once they both had a few set up they went out for dinner.

*The Boys*

"And MacKenzie said nothing to you about leaving?" Brian asked AJ for the upteenth time.

"No," AJ muttered through gritted teeth.

"I'm sorry man," Brian put his hand on AJ's shoulder as he watched tears fall from Aj's eyes.

"I just don't understand," AJ sobbed into Brian's chest.

"Me either," Brian struggled.

"I mean, she said she loved me, I thought, damnit, I knew she meant it..."

"We were engaged, do you know where she left the ring?"

"Where?"

"Her pillow," He braced himself before he could break down in tears.

"I'm going to find her," AJ said determined. He reached for his cell phone and dialed Howie's number.

"Hello?"

"D?"

"Yeah? What's wrong? You sound terrible."

AJ cringed, "Yeah, have you talked to MacKenzie or Kirsten today?"

"Nope, I sure haven't. Why?"

"Nevermind," Aj hung up the phone and began dialing again with Brian watched hopefully.

Nick Carter glanced at his cell phone as it rang beside him. "This is Nick," he answered.

"Hey... Nick...I..."

'Oh shit, Aj,' he thought to himself.

"was wondering if you had talked to MacKenzie or Kirsten lately?"

Nick reeled his brain, he couldn't do that to them, they were already in enough pain, "No, I haven't," he lied.

AJ continued to call everyone that he thought would know where they were, but noone had a clue.
