Chapter Eight

Tour had been pretty uneventful even with the extra people. Brian and Kirsten were inseperable, spending every spare moment with each other and Jacci.

AJ hounded MacKenzie constantly which seemingly pushed her further away.

"We can't keep doing this," MacKenzie told Nick wrapping her arms around his neck.

He kissed her, "I know..."

She kissed him, "What if..."

"Shh..." Nick smiled and kissed her once more, both were wrapped up in each other so much as they didn't hear the creaky bus door open,

"What are you guys doing?"

MacKenzie and Nick turned around in terror to see Kevin standing in the doorway.

Nick closed his mouth relieved, "Oh, it's just you,"

"Yeah, just me... but what if I had been someone else?"

Nick and MacKenzie shot nervous glances at one another.

"You guys need to be more careful, more considerate of AJ," Kevin advised.

"Did I hear my name?" AJ asked waltzing into the bus.

Nick and MacKenzie sprang apart, "I was just looking for you," MacKenzie lied.

"Well,I'm right here." He smiled.

MacKenzie couldn't help but feel eased by the comforting smile she'd fallen in love with not so long ago.

"C'mon," he said taking her hand. Nick wiped the perspiration off of his forehead,

"I know man," He told Kevin's gaze.

**Later**

"It could have been AJ," MacKenzie whimpered to Brian and Kirsten.

"But it wasn't," Brian comforted her.

She smiled, "But what if it had been, it's getting way too hard to keep it a secret."

"Than just tell him," Kirsten suggested.

"If only it were that simple."

"Do you love Nick?" Brian questioned.

MacKenzie hesitated, "I've grown very close to Nick, yes, but I fear love based on the past, but I'm sure given time I would grow to love him."

Brian seemed satisified, "but what about AJ?" asked Kirsten.

"What about him?"

"How do you feel about him?"

"He's comfortable, I'm close to him, well, the old me was close to him, and the new me seems to have something that resembles closeness with him now... but nowhere near the attraction that I feel toward Nick."

"Then you need to tell him." Brian told her.

"If only it were that simple..." She sighed.

*The Next Morning*

"How are you feeling this morning?" Brian asked Kirsten kissing her forehead.

"Fine... a little tired."

Brian kissed her lips, "feeling a little more awake?"

She smiled weakly, "Thank you," She propped herself up and kissed him again.

"Are you sure you're ok?"

"I'm fine," She reassured him. Brian turned to walk out,

"All right, I'll be in soundcheck, let me know if you need anything..." He said before closing the door, she nodded.

Kirsten laid back on the couch wincing at the pain in her side, "I'll be fine..." She whispered to herself.

*Later*

"Good luck tonight," MacKenzie said to AJ planting a kiss on his cheek.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her to him, he bent his face toward hers, "AJ..." She tried.

He kissed her tenderly, "Just to remind you how I feel..." He walked out of the dressing room.

MacKenzie sulked to Nick's dressing room, "Nick?" She called knocking on the door.

"Come in,"

"Hey..."

"Mac!" He jumped up and hugged her. She smiled and ran her fingers through his hair.

"Good luck sweetie," She whispered in his neck.

He kissed the top of her head, "What's wrong?"

MacKenzie proceeded to tell him what had just happened with AJ.

"No, he kissed me."

"Did you like it?"

MacKenzie smiled and pressed her lips to Nick's, "Not nearly as much as I like this," She kissed him again. The kiss quickly turned passionate as Nick snaked his hand up MacKenzie's shirt to her back.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" AJ exploded into the room. MacKenzie jumped out of Nick's arms.
