Chapter Two

My wall clock rang as it struck midnight. I sat there, dwelling on all the possibilites why Shawn and I had to break up. I came up with several reasons on why we should've broke up, but I came up with more why we shouldn't of. He said we should see other people, but that is kind of hard to imagine. I couldn't see myself with another guy besides him, and it hurt that he could see himself with another girl.

I yawned and turned on the radio. Some song I have never heard was on.

"I wish they'd play that new Jessica Simpson song." I said to myself.

I picked up the phone to request the song. The phone rang a few times and then the DJ picked up excitedely.

"Who's this?" he shrieked into the phone.

"Um, Julia." I said, confused.

"You just one yourself two front row tickets to the Backstreet Boys concert tomorrow!" the DJ explained.

"Huh?" I asked, "Um, thanks."

"No problem. Stay on the line for details." he instructed. I was put on hold and l listened to the soft music in the background. I was curious to find who I had just won tickets to see. So, when the lady answered the phone, I asked.

"Oh honey, have you been in a cave? Backstreet Boys are the hottest group aorund right now. You know, I Want It That Way, I'll Never Break Your Heart..." the lady described.

"Oh! Them. Good. I like their music." I replied.

"Well, good. Find our stage at the concert and pick up your tickets." she said.

"K." I agreed. I giggled to myself while I hung up the phone. That was pretty cool. Maybe the concert would take my mind off of Shawn. If only I knew how right I was...

The Next Day at the Concert

"I hope these guys are good." Melissa, my bestfriend, stated. I chose her to come with me.

"They should be. Their music is pretty cool." I assured her. We had just picked up our tickets and were making our way to our front row seats. The stage was really neat shaped and the whole inside of the arena was in a "Millennium" theme for the concert.

"Do you know who the opening acts are?" Melissa asked.

"No."

"Oh, well, I guess we'll find out, the concert should start soon." Melissa sighed.

I nodded, "In like two minutes." I said, looking at my watch. As soon as I said that the light dimmed and a familiar beat came on.

"It's Mandy Moore!" shouted Melissa, over the blaring music.

"I'm so addicted to lovin that you're feedin to me..." We sang together...

The opening act was great but then intermission came and went and now it was time for the stars of the concert. The opening guys looked pretty good and they made their way around the diamond shaped stage. When they came to our side of the stage, I looked up and noticed something. I gasped. "It's Brian!"

"Duh!" the teen girl next to me said, not taking her eyes off of the stage. I gave her a dirty look.

Larger Than Life came on and they started dancing around. Brian was on my side of the stage. He was concentrating on singing and dancing, I wonder if he remembered me. He was gorgeous, I never knew he was famous though! And oh his voice... ahhhh. Brian came to the edge of the stage and glanced in my direction. He did a doubletake and smiled at me, then smiled. He waved and then sang again. Melissa smiled at me.

"That's the guy from the mall." I screamed, over the cheering. Melissa's eyes widdened and we shrieked together.

The concert went on, it was non-stop action! I loved it, and it slowed down with a slow song I recongized, "I'll Never Break Your Heart." Brian leaned over the stage, and looked me in the eyes. He then extended his hand and motioned for me to grab it. I latched on to his sweaty, warm hand and he pulled me up on stage with him. The lights were hot and my nervousness boiled over the top My face, I was sure, was flushed red. I've never been in front of so many people at once.

I was led to his stool, and all the guys had brought girls on stage, and they began singing the soft, sexy, romantic words. "From the first day, that I saw your smiling face..."

"What are you doing here?" Brian whispered, holding the microphone away from his mouth.

"I won tickets." I replied.

"Oooo, when I asked you out, you said no but I found out." He responded, realizing it was his turn. I smiled.

"Darlin that you've been hurt. You thought that you'd never love again. Yah. Cuz I deserve a try honey just once..." My eyes began to tear.

This song reminded me of Shawn. I looked up towards the ceiling, I didn't want Brian to see me cry. I blinked away my tears and was glad when I was let off the stage.

"You are so lucky!" Melissa shrieked.

"Can we go?" I asked, about to burst right there.

"What?" Melissa shouted over the music, "It's not over yet?"

"I really need to go." I said, I began to walk out, wiping my tears away. When we were away from the screams, I just let it all flow.

"Julia, what's wrong?" Melissa asked.

I glanced over at her and saw her genuine concern in her eyes, "He said he'd never break my heart."

"Yeah, that's part of the song!" Melissa explained.

"No! Not him. Shawn. He always told me that. He dedicated that song to me. And look what he did." I sobbed.

Melissa hugged me and I cried into her shoulder. I don't think it was the right time to look to my left, because Shawn was there, with a girl who looked about eighteen, and they weren't just talking about BSB.
