Chapter Seven

We arrived at the restaurant, Brian, Leah, Nick, and I all sat down in a booth.

“Hi, Im Erin, your waitress. Can I get you guys anything to drink while you decide what you want?” asked a young girl, about 16 or 17. She was beautiful. She had long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a small figure.

“Nick?” she asked shocked. Her mouth curved into a smile.

“Oh, hey Erin,” Nick laughed nervously.

“Wow, you never called me to tell me you were back in town,” she said.

“Uh, yeah. Sorry about that,” he sighed.

“So, how long are you staying?” she asked, ignoring the rest of the group. I looked at Leah who looked just as confused at me. She shrugged her shoulders as if to tell me she had no clue who Erin was.

“Uh, Im staying for nine months. Im doing my senior year in a public school,” he answered.

“Arent they worried about the public school?” she asked, looking concerned.

“Nah, people around here are cool about it. They dont get worked up about it,” he answered.

“Oh,” she said, a smile still plastered on her face.

“Yeah, well, I’ll have Mountain Dew,” Leah inturupted their conversation. I smiled, I was getting a little jealous there.

“Oh, right. Ok, and you Brian?” she asked looking at Brian.

“Tea,” he answered.

“What about you?” she asked looking at me. She took a double take of me, as if she was just figuring something out.

“Uh, Dr.Pepper,” I answered.

“Nick?” she asked.

“Coke.”

“Ok, I’ll be back in a moment, with your drinks,” she said softly and walked off.

“Who was that?” Leah asked once she left.

“Erin,” Nick answered.

“Yeah, I think we heard her introduce herself. But who is she?” Leah asked.

“Nick went out with her a couple of years ago,” Brian answered for Nick.

“She was obsessive. I didnt like her once I got to know the real her,” Nick replied. I looked at him worried. What if he said that about me once he got to know me? But, then again, I dont get obsessive.

“Dont worry about her Marissa,” Leah assured me.

I smiled and blushed. I didnt think anyone saw my worried expression.

“Yeah, dont. I like you, and not her. Ever,” Nick said, putting his arm around me. I smiled up at him and he leaned down and kissed my lips softly. I havent yet French kissed Nick, but then again, we’ve been going out for only a few hours. But, it was tempting.

“Here’s your drinks,” Erin said setting down the drinks. Nick took his arm from around me and took my drink and handed it to me.

Erin looked from me to Nick and then back to me.

“Who’s this Nick?” she asked smiling.

“This is Marissa,” Nick answered her.

“His Girlfriend,” Leah pressed.

Nick chuckled when he saw Erin’s face.

“Hi,” Erin said, a blank look on her face.

“Hi,” I said softly.

“Are you guys ready to order?” Erin asked.

“We would be if we had menus,” Leah answered.

“Oh, Im sorry. Here,” she said handing everyone a menu and practically throwing one at me. I looked at her shocked. I didnt do anything to her.

“I’ll be back in a moment,” she told us and walked off.

“Im sorry about her,” Nick apologized looking at me.

“It’s ok. You cant help it,” I answered.

“I know. But, I feel bad because she’s being rude,” Nick said.

“Dont worry about it Nick,” I laughed.

“Well, hello Marissa,” Brad said appearing in front of the table. I groaned.

“What do you want?” I asked, annoyed.

“Nothing, just wanted to say hello. I cant wait for dinner tomorrow night,” he told me.

“Oh, really? Too bad I wont be there,” I said, snottily.

“And why not?” he asked, pretending to be hurt.

“Because I have much better things to do,” I growled.

“Like what?” he asked.

“Like spend time with her boyfriend,” Leah shot at him. I really like Leah. She’s awesome.

“Funny, last time I checked, I was her boyfriend,” Brad said.

“You wish,” I rolled my eyes.

“You know, Marissa. Why dont you just give it up? You know your father is going to make you and I get married. Why not just give up on fighting it?” he asked.

“Because it’s not going to happen, that’s why!” I said frustrated. Brian and Leah were looking at me confused.

“And Im guessing you’re her boyfriend?” he asked looking at Nick.

“Yeah,” Nick answered.

“Just to warn you ahead of time, give up on her. She’s not worth it,” Brad said and walked off. I felt the tears burning my eyes.

“Dont cry,” Nick said putting his arm back around me and pulling me close to him.

I held back the tears, I didnt want to cry in front of Nick.

“I wont give up,” Nick whispered in my ears. I smiled as I looked up at him.

“Thank you,” I said.

“You’re worth it. I can tell,” he whispered.

“How can you tell?” I asked smiling now.

“Because, I can tell by your eyes that there’s something special about you and Im not letting that go. No matter what,” he told me.

“But you’ve only known me two days,” I said.

“You dont need two days to know there’s something special about someone,” he told me.

“Is that why Im not skeptical of you?” I asked.

“I dont know you tell me,” he said.

“Yeah, I know there’s something special about you too,” I whispered.

I was speaking the complete truth. I may not love Nick, yet. But there definitly is something special about him. Im not going to let this whole thing get in the way of a relationship with him either.

*At the Movies*

“Hey guys, this is Marissa,” Nick said walking up to a group of people. Brian and Leah were in the group.

“Hey,” they all waved.

“Hi,” I smiled.

“This is AJ,” he said pointing to a guy with tattoos decorating his body, but he was cute, “This is Howie,” he pointed to a short Latino, “Kevin and his girlfriend, Lexi,” he said pointing to a tall, dark, muscular guy and a blonde, with their arms wrapped around each other, “And, you know Leah and Brian.”

“Hi,” I said again.

“Nick, she’s pretty,” Howie commented.

“Oh yeah. Too bad she’s taken,” AJ winked at me.

I blushed.

“I know,” Nick said proudly. He put his arm around my waist and I put mine around his.

“Aww, isnt that cute?” Kevin cooed (Leah, LOL).
