Chapter Ten

"I am so tired," I whined to my manager. We've been up forever, working on a new song.

"Marissa, please. I am just as tired as you are," he rolled his eyes.

"Well, I dont care, Im going home, to bed, to sleep. We'll work on this together tomorrow, when Im not so tired," I said grabbing my bag and walking out of the room. I was so cranky. I was almost afraid to drive home because I was so tired, but I got in my car and started it up.

By the time I got home I could barely keep my eyes open. I stumbled into the house and up to my room. I layed on my bed and leaned over and pressed my answering machine to hear my messages.

"Hey Marissa, call me when you get in or tomorrow if it's too late," Leah said and hung up.

"Hey Marissa, it's Howie. You probably wont get in until late, so call me when you get up in the morning," Howie said.

I smiled, I wanted to talk to him, but dreaming about him will have to do until the morning.

*The Next Morning*

"Hey Howie," I said. I just got done brushing my teeth and crawling out of bed.

"Good afternoon, sunshine," Howie laughed.

I looked at the clock. It was 1:00.

"I was so tired last night and all I kept hearing was, 'Come on Marissa, let's edit it some more'. I was going crazy," I told Howie.

"Aww, well what are you doing this afternoon?" Howie asked.

"Well, Im supposed to go to the studio, but I can put that off," I told him.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yeah, why? What did you have in plan?" I asked, curious.

"Well, I was just thinking we could hang out or something," he suggested.

"That sounds cool. I was wondering, Im doing a charity concert at the St.Pete Pier and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?" I asked.

"When?" he asked.

"Tomorrow night. Samantha could come and we could walk the beach afterwards," I suggested.

"That sounds nice," Howie agreed.

"So, you'll go?" I asked.

"Of course," he said.

About twenty minutes later, Howie and I were sitting in the park, watching Samantha on the swing.

"So, tell me something interesting about yourself Marissa," Howie said.

"Like what?" I laughed.

"I dont know. When was your last serious relationship?" he asked.

"About two years ago," I whispered.

"What happened?" he asked.

"He cheated on me," I answered and looked away. I was hoping he would drop the subject, but he didnt.

"Why would someone cheat on such a beautiful girl?" he asked sympathetically.

"Because Im a virgin," I said looking at him.

"No way," he said shocked.

"Wow, is it THAT hard to believe?" I asked, a little offended.

"No, no, Im sorry. I didnt mean it like that. But," he stuttered.

"It's ok Howie, Im not going to be a bitch about it," I told him.

"Well, how long were you two dating?" he asked.

"About a year," I answered.

"Wow, thats a long time," he said.

"Yeah, well," I shrugged.

"Where did you two meet?" he asked.

"School," I answered.

Well, this was starting to sound like an interview or something.
