Chapter Eight

"Spending all my time, breathing, living, experiencing you. Baby you and me," I sang the lyrics to my latest single.

"Where you going?" my mother asked coming into my room.

"Im going out to lunch with a friend," I told her.

"Howie?" she asked smiling.

"How'd you know?" I asked confused.

"Marissa, you've been singing and dancing around the house all day, I figured you had a date, and well Howie is the only guy you've met lately, so," she shrugged.

"Are you for real?" I asked.

"No, he's downstairs waiting for you," she said smiling.

"Oh!" I exclaimed, slipping on my white Lugz and rushing downstairs.

"I feel like Im in high school again," he laughed.

"Why's that?" I asked smiling.

"You know, I have to wait downstairs for my date," he said.

"Oh," I blushed.

"You ready?" he asked.

"Yeah, let's go," I told him.

"OK," he said smiling.

"So, where does Samantha go when you work?" I asked on our way to lunch.

"She goes with me. She hangs out in the room next to the studio. I go see her or bring her into the studio during breaks and everything," he answered.

"That's cool," I smiled.

"Yeah," he nodded.

"So, where are we going, Howie?" I asked smiling.

"A little cafe downtown. It's cool and not many people are there during the day, so you shouldnt get recognized," he answered.

"Sounds cool," I smiled.

"It's nice," he answered.

Finally, we arrived to the cafe and we went in. It was a cute little place.

"Let's sit at the bar," he said.

"Ok," I agreed. I followed Howie to the bar and sat down next to him.

We ordered cokes and waited patiently for our drinks. I already knew I wanted a burger and fries.

"So what do you think about us dating Marissa?" Howie asked suddenly. He had turned and looked at me.

"Really?" I asked.

"Why not?" he shrugged.

"But, you dont know me," I said.

"Well, we wont call it an official boyfriends/girlfriend thing. Just date, you know? Get to know one another," he said.

"That sounds really good," I smiled.

"Cool. Im glad I got that off my chest," he laughed.

"You're a really sweet guy Howie," I said smiling at him.

He was blushing when he just shrugged.

"Did I embarrass you?" I asked.

"Kinda," he laughed.

"Sorry," I laughed.

"As long as you dont say that kind of stuff in front of the guys," he joked.

"Oh, ok. Gotta act hard, I understand," I said smiling.

"Oh hey, I was wondering if you wanted to come to the studio some time and just co-dj with me," he said looking at me.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah, what do you think?" he asked.

"That'd be cool!" I exclaimed.

"Cool, how's next week, we have to give the listeners a little advance notice," he told me.

"That sounds really cool," I agreed.

"Cool," he smiled.

After lunch Howie took me home. I was anticipating seeing him again.
