John Redden Bazemore Family Reunion [Home ] |
THE JOHN REDDING BAZEMORE MEMORIAL HALL Years ago, it rained so much on the first Sunday in September (our annual Reunion Day) we were forced to get permission to use the Masonic Hall on the Republican Road . Then a few reunions later it rained again on the annual Reunion Day and again we were permitted to use the Fellowship Hall of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Because of these experiences and because of our deep rooted spirit of independence, the idea of building the Memorial Hall was born. The year 1975 was the year John Redding Bazemore's great granddaughter Nelphia Bazemore had the idea of the descendants working together to build a Memorial Hall. Thomas Bazemore drew the blueprint and presented it at the family reunion. It was accepted and plans for financing the building were set in motion. After much praying and decision making, it was decided just where the location would be, how large each room would be, the number of rooms, and who the contractor would be. Lonnie Bazemore was chosen as the contractor. The first Sunday in September, 1982 was a historic day for the descendants and friends of John Redding Bazemore. That was the day that all members of the family had been working, praying and paying for --the completion and dedication of the John Redding Bazemore Memorial Hall. The weather was beautiful and to us that was a sign from Heaven that we had received God's blessings on our efforts. At 3:00 o'clock sharp the Service of Dedication began. |
