Well, the Battle of Aiken has come and gone. The ARCA provided emergency communications for the event. We WERE needed. On Saturday, we had a spectator fall out due to heat, we had to get Paramedics into the crowd to the downed spectator. All turned out well. We had several lost parents (the children knew where they were!), and even had to help call for a Vet for sick horses.
On Sunday, we had high winds, and dry conditions early on. This created an ideal situation for fires, and yes we had a fire in the Confederate camp. So, we had to call the Fire Department in to put out the fire. We also had a reenactor get hit in the forehead with a cannon primer. It nearly knocked him out!!! Again, we got the Paramedics in to help.
Here are a couple of photos of Rhonda (left pic), and in the center of the pic at right. Also in the picture at right is Becky Brown, who helped Rhonda by making her green Civil War Dress, and taking the pink dress in a few inches. The lady on the right is an annual attendee and reenactor. She was giving Rhonda and Becky some tips on what proper ladies wore beneath their long dresses.
Here is a photo of Rhonda and Becky with one of the Confederate Reenactors. Unfortunately, they took the picture close to the parking lot, so it really does take away from the effect.
