SYPHON FILTER 2 WALKTHROUGH PAGE 5

SEVENTEENTH MISSION: Agency Bio-Lab
LOCATION: New York: Agency Bio-Lab

OPERATIVE: Gabe Logan
BRIEFING: Phagan's data files have given you a bargaining chip to use against the Agency, and you've agreed to a trade: the files for Lian's vaccine. However, Stevens has double-crossed you. You now find yourself trapped and alone, in the Agency's New York biogenetic laboratories, hidden 100 meters beneath a slum district on the lower east side.

Steven's deception was part of your plan, as it allowed you access to their high security complex, where you'll be able to synthesize a vaccine. You're disguised as a lab worker, with a low-level security badge. This will help you get around, but be cautious. If you get too close to any lab personnel or any security camera, you will be recognized.

A long FMV starts this mission. It's up to Logan to get Lian's cure. He'll trade the vaccine for the data he has. But he expects, even counts on the bad guys to betray him so he can get into the secure installation where the vaccine is. Thankfully he has an ingenious hidden weapon - a hollow tooth that releases a poisonous gas. With a lab coat as a disguise, head out. Exit the room, go down the hall and take a right. At the end of this hall take another right. Go to the end of this hall and around a corner to the left to a door labeled A3. A short FMV of a lab guy leaving a guard behind (the lab guy is going to get a body bag for Logan - LOL). Use X to walk, not run, through the door; keep to the wall on the right, go around the corner and follow the lab worker to the dead end (stay to the right). Hide behind the portion of the wall sticking out and wait for the guard to come from the right hand side. After he passes turn right and walk into the corner behind the boxes and wait for the next guard to come close. When he turns around follow him. Go into the next corner and wait for him to turn around and pass you by. Move forward (keep slightly right) until you see a guard step out (right after the narrow part with boxes at the same place on either side of you). Just walk into the wall of boxes and wait for the guard to walk away. Follow him to the corner and watch until he stops again by the wall of boxes. Wait for him to move again and walk to where he was. Continue forward around the corner (be cautious of another guard that may appear in front of you and stand in a cubbyhole). Just take the first right to a door labeled A1 and go toward the second door labeled A1 for a Checkpoint. Go through the door (carefully as a guard may walk past from the left) and turn left. Go forward and around the corner through another door labeled A1. Be cautious; there is a guard who just stands there. Stay right and go to the end of the hall and pick up your Knife from the patient bed/table. Go right. At the door on the left with yellow bands on the floor in front of it Lian calls and says you must access security net. So go back the way you came (take out the guard with your Knife to get G-18 BUT DON'T USE IT - USE ONLY SILENCED WEAPONS AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME). Go through the door labeled A1 and take a left. Take the next door on the left (there should be a computer and lockers inside) and go to the computer terminal. It's the security net. Use the computer to get a Checkpoint and complete an objective. Now go back to the door that was locked (if you leave this room through the other door you may get lucky and catch a guard from behind; follow him until he goes around the corner, wait until he comes back to the cubbyhole and stands still and take him out with your Knife to get G-18). When you get to the locked door and go in you get decontaminated. Go right through the next door. A guard is to the left - get him with your Knife and take his K3G4. Continue forward for a short FMV of a GI locked up in a cell. Ignore the area to your left for a moment and go right. Go through the door on the left. There is a lab guy in here. He recognizes you but doesn't sound the alarm. He just runs and hides in the corner. Check the lockers and you find another lab guy who does the same thing (take him out for a cool one-liner from Logan). Check the locker again for your Gear to get a Checkpoint and complete another objective. You also get a call from Lian. You now have Silenced 9mm, Silenced Sniper Rifle, Air Taser, Camera Scrambler and Modem. Go to the other computer terminal to operate the elevator. Go back to the area you ignored before. Be careful; there is a guard on the same level to the right and another below in front of the cells. Snipe the one on your level first, then get the one in front of the cells to get an FMV. It's Ramirez in the cell. Chance is somewhere in the complex too. You must find him as well. Go up the ramp and turn left. Don't miss the K3G4 and G-18 ammo left by the two guards. Check the door on the upper level to get a message from Lian - you must find Gershon. Exit through another door in the corner. To the left and right are more locked doors. Walk to the red light to scramble the camera - no more red light tells you that you did it. At the bottom and to the left is a door labeled A2. Go through this door to find the synthesis lab for Lian's vaccine. You can't get in this way though. Go through the door labeled A3. Go to the right and then take the first left to get back to the original starting point. Continue past here to get another Checkpoint. Go forward and right through the door labeled A4. Stay to the right. One guard should be walking away from you as the door opens. Get him quickly with a headshot. Stay to the right since there is a guard AND a security camera to the left. Go to the end of the hall and shoot the vent for a Checkpoint. Jump in, go through, shoot the vent cover at the other end and jump down. Go left to find Gershon. A short FMV and you get a Checkpoint. Now you must follow Gershon. After going through the door run to the next corner. There is a lab guy around the corner who sounds an alarm (or Gershon gets away if you have to follow the lab guy too far to get him) so take him out with a headshot - just sneak and snipe from the corner. Continue to follow Gershon to the door on the left for another short FMV. Leave Gershon and go down the ramp to the long black counter. Go behind the counter and into the corner to find the Data Uplink. You install the modem (FMV) to complete the objective and get a Checkpoint, but then several guards rush in. They are armed with Sniper Rifles and Silenced HK-5's. They take headshots so immediately run for cover (use O to dodge bullets and hide behind the nearest TALL computer cabinet). Be sure you have the Sniper Rifle equipped and sneak and snipe them (quickly or some will come right up to you and shoot you dead). A short FMV about the security system and you reach a Checkpoint. Pick up the ammo and weapons left behind before going on. Go back the way you came (note that Gershon is dead) to where Ramirez is and go through the previously locked door on the upper level. Go forward to the door labeled B1. Go through and take the door on the left. As soon as you do try to shoot the two lab guys as quickly as possible (you can get one with a headshot as soon as you walk in and then the second gets on his knees in the corner). Shoot or zap both of them or the alarm sounds. Go up the ramp and flip the switch. You poison the guy inside the lab room and a short FMV has you talking to Chance. You get a Checkpoint and complete an objective. Go back up the ramp and out the door. Go forward and left through the door labeled A2 (carefully, a guard is right down the hall through the door - get him with a headshot). Go through the next door labeled A2 for an FMV, a Checkpoint and a completed objective. Take out a lab guy in the area below then climb over the wall and jump down (a short call to Lian before though). Go through the doorway and up the ramp (into area B3). When you get to the end there is a vent and a door. If you go to the door Lian suggests trying the vent. Shoot it out and go through. Go forward and get another FMV about the Syphon Filter virus. After use one shot to kill the lab worker left behind AND shoot out the vent. Go through the final door to get Lian's vaccine. An alarm goes off. The mission is complete and you can save. Whew what a mission.



EIGHTEENTH MISSION: Agency Bio-Lab Escape
LOCATION: New York, USA: Agency Bio-Lab

OPERATIVE: Gabe Logan
BRIEFING: You've gotten Lian's vaccine, but the complex has been put on alert. You're trapped in the bio-synthesis lab, and you've ditched the disguise because it won't do you any good. You've only got one objective: get out. Reach street level and rendezvous with Teresa, who's waiting at the evac point with a chopper.

Stevens has called in an Emergency Defense Squad. These security shock troops will be completely armored from head to toe. Unless you can find a way to kill them, when you see them, run.

You have only one mission - escape. It is harder than it sounds. The complex is on full alert and Stevens has called in his Emergency Defense Squad. Totally armored from head to toe they are virtually invulnerable to small arms fire - which means without a little help or some major firepower you can't kill them. When the mission starts, duck, turn to the right, and go to the ammo box to get maximum HK-5 ammo (note: there is a Flak Jacket in an ammo box on the counter to your right if you need it - just get the guy shooting at you first). Turn around and shoot a chemical vial on the counter close to the guy who is shooting at you and the resulting explosion kills him. Exit the lab and go back towards the vent you came in from (i.e. at the end of the last mission). You may also note that you have a map for this mission. You call Lian to state the obvious; the guards are completely armored. Look to the left to find another vent. Shoot it out and crawl through. When you exit the other side jump down and go right - don't go left or you run into some Security Squad baddies; keep moving or they will catch you. Go around the corner to the left past the boxes (and the flashing red light), and around the next corner to the left. Continue straight and take the next left hand corner then go immediately to the right toward A3. The right hand door before you get to A3 is the original starting point (i.e. for the last mission). Go inside and shoot the vent without a fan. Go through and shoot out the vent to the left. Climb down for an FMV and a Checkpoint. Seems you are in a body storage area - you may note the body of Anton Girdeux laying nearby, who was from the original Syphon Filter (wonder why he's here?? Hmmm …). Follow the bodies on the conveyor to the left to find another vent. Shoot it out and climb up. Go through - don't get too close to the fan or you get shot - it to find another area with computers and lockers. Check the lockers for a Weapons Cache - M-79, HK-5 and a Flak Jacket. There is another vent in this room. Turn around, go to the bench and turn left to find it. Go through it. Equip the M-79 along the way. When you exit the other side, as soon as you jump down go immediately to the left to the doorway that says A1 to get under cover. Peak around the corner or break cover and use auto aim to get the security troopers with your M-79 (try to get them both with one shot). Go towards them and take the door on your left. Go to the back of the room, past the lockers and to the door on your right. Now you have drawn the security guards into the hallway. Go back the way you came and turn left. Peak around the corner and you should see one or two troopers standing in the doorway at the end of the hall. Get them both with one shot then go through the door. Go left around the corner, but use just a bit of caution at the next left corner. Be ready to shoot as you charge around the corner - use auto aim and blast the security guard. You will see a vent (it may have been blasted open by your M-79) on your right - go through it and you reach an obstacle. An FMV of you calling Lian shows the large gap with a drop in the ventilation system. Just try to center yourself in the vent and on the wall, then hold the forward button down until you catch hold of the next vent opening on the other side of the gap. Continue through the vents. Shoot the vent cover at the end and climb down. You will see Ramirez's body lying nearby. Move forward for an FMV and Checkpoint. One guard comes in and comes down the ramp (note the ammo box with M-79 ammo inside - wait until you use up what you already have to the last shot before taking it; you'll need every shot you can get). Use auto-aim and get him with a blast from the M-79. Another guard is overhead - you can get him from below with an M-79 blast. Climb the ramp for two more guards (one hides down the hall towards the escape route - check the map as you are VERY close to it - and the other is to the left as you come up the ramp); get them with shots from your M-79. There is another guard in a cubbyhole to the left as you head for the escape route. It is actually the entrance hall to another room. You must check this room out. Get the guy guarding the hall, then another guard jumps into the doorway as you approach. Go forward just enough to get him to jump out, then run back out into the main hall and sneak and snipe him (or just step out into the open, use auto aim and shoot quickly). Run in, check the computer, then dodge a final guard who rushes in and tries to take you by surprise. If you have M-79 ammo left you can get him but be careful; the M-79 is so powerful that in the small room you will likely get yourself as well. Even if you get him before he gets into the room the blast will propel his flaming body into you - if you are quick you can sidestep it and maybe avoid it. Anyway, nothing left to do but head to the elevator for an FMV. Mission over and you can save.

NINETEENTH MISSION: New York Slums
LOCATION: New York, USA: Slums District
DATE/TIME: 09/13 21:10
OPERATIVE: Gabe Logan
BRIEFING: You've made it to the city streets. Teresa is waiting with a chopper for evac on the roof of a parking garage a half-mile from your current position. Make it to the chopper and you're home free.

N.Y.P.D. has gotten reports of the gunfire between you and the Agency security and has sent several S.W.A.T. teams into the area. These officers believe you're a wanted terrorist responsible for the attack on D.C., and will fire at you on sight. Avoid contact if possible, lend assistance if necessary.

As the briefing says, you've made it to the city streets (New York City that is). Teresa is waiting with a chopper (the location is shown on the map). Agency security is lurking about as is NYPD SWAT members. Avoid contact with SWAT (help if necessary), kill any Agency guys and make it to the chopper. You start by a doorway. An Agency guy comes immediately from the left, armed with an HK-5. Get him then go down the alley he came from for a Flak Jacket (if you need it). Go back to the street you were on and come down the right hand side. Keep an eye on the left hand side. An Agency guy appears at the top of the shorter gray building on the corner by the truck (he appears about when you get to the light post). Kill him, get his ammo, and then sneak around the front of the truck. Head down the street to the right BUT keep to the left hand side. There is an Agency guy in a cubbyhole to the right (look for movement against the gray buildings). Snipe him then go on. In a cubbyhole to the left is an ammo box with G-18 inside (be sure you equip your G-18 for the next little bit). As you move forward an Agency guy will run around the corner ahead of you and hide in a cubbyhole on the left side of the street and behind a short gray wall. Don't worry about him right now (or go ahead and get him, it's your call). As you approach the ammo box with the G-18 another Agency guy shows up on the roof above you. Now, just creep to the front corner of the building he is on, back up a little bit, strafe left and get him. Stay on this side of the street, creep forward and sneak and snipe the guy in the cubbyhole on the left (get him with a headshot so he leaves a Flak Jacket behind). Now go back and get the G-18 ammo (you did equip it so you could take out the bad guys and still go back for the maximum ammo didn't you?). Continue down the road and go past the pawnshop. Two black trucks zoom in and block your way so you call Lian - it seems the Agency is blocking your way. Just go back to the pawnshop, shoot the lock off the door and go in.
NOTE: This is a good time to use the K3G4. It shreds the flak jackets allowing you to make quick kills on armored bad guys.
As soon as you enter sneak immediately left and hide behind the island (i.e. the counter that sits by itself in the room). Two guys rush in from behind the glass and a guy outside starts lobbing grenades at the store. Ignore the grenade guy and get the two behind the glass. Climb over the counter into an area with brown and green walls. Creep around the first corner and creep forward. There is an Agency guy hiding ahead in a cubbyhole to the right. Sneak and snipe him. Go around the corner to the left into a larger area with an empty shelf and a window to the right. In the corner behind the shelf is an ammo box with M-16 inside and a Checkpoint. Now creep to the doorway. Turn right and sneak a peek outside. Look up to see the head of an Agency guy standing in a window. Get him before he detects you. Come out the door and head left. There is a Flak Jacket by the flaming barrel. Climb the orange dumpster then up onto the roof of the building. As soon as you do an Agency guy jumps down from the left. So as soon as you jump up RUN to the large cubical object (it's actually a heating or air conditioning unit) and duck behind it and sneak and snipe the bad guy. Get a radio message from Lian and a Checkpoint. Climb onto the unit, then up to the roof. Sneak to the outcropping. One guy appears on the roof behind the outcropping and another comes from behind it. Sneak and snipe them both (the one that comes from behind the outcropping has a Flak Jacket so get him with a headshot). Head right, climb up on the short wall, and then crouch to climb down the other side. Use strafe to center on the windows then drop down to the blue awning below. As you do a SWAT guy runs below. Jump down to the street and if you need it run around a corner to the left where the SWAT guy came from for a Flak Jacket. Otherwise go to the other side of the street and go down the ramp behind the short gray wall. It's the one you can see from the roof before climbing down - the one to the right of the alley.
NOTE: If you try to go down the alley you get a call from Lian - you can't go here just yet. Also don't wander around too much or you get surrounded by snipers.
Go down the ramps (it's a little smoky) and when you get to the bottom you see a big pile of orange crates and a lot of fires. When you move slightly forward Lian calls warning you to be careful - duh. Head straight forward towards the fire in the corner. Go right to see a box in the next corner and a doorway with a fire inside. Continue forward carefully. As you pass in front of the flame or go up the ramp two guys come from behind and another is around the corner past the flame (you can get him if you walk backwards up the ramp and get him when he comes into view). The other two won't follow but you can sneak back down and snipe them anyway (they come back to haunt you later if you don't). Continue up the ramp into a laundry room towards what looks like washing machines and you call Lian. An objective is added - you must find and activate the sprinkler system. Turn to your right. See the smoke and the suspicious looking floor? Run to it and you fall through to the floor below. The red block on the wall is the sprinkler switch. Activate it to complete the objective and get a Checkpoint. Two Agency guys come in immediately after so find some cover behind the boxes and sneak and snipe them. If you didn't get him before, there is another up the ramp. Go back up to where you were before (you can get Dirty Laundry from the washing machines to unlock an MP Arena). Go through the doorway that was blocked by flames before. Be careful - note the flames and suspicious looking arches over the doorway. They crash down. Run forward past the doorway on the left. Let the sniper try to jump through the flames. He catches on fire and leaves Sniper Rifle ammo and a Flak Jacket. Cool huh? Only one more sniper to go and you didn't have to fire a shot. Continue forward around the corner, past the now flaming doorway and around the next corner. Continue forward around the last corner carefully to the doorway on the right. Inside are two guys behind a table turned on its side. Sneak and snipe them; then go inside, jump on the table and into the next area upstairs. You reach a Checkpoint. Go through the doorway. A SWAT guy on the right says, "Freeze…" Run back into the room. Two Agency guys kill the SWAT guy and one enters the room (he has Flak Jacket so get him with a headshot or use K3G4) and the other stands at the doorway and lobs grenades into the room. How can you get them you ask? When you run back into the room, get against the wall facing the hall. Get the first guy when he comes in, then go to the doorway, aim, strafe left or right and get the grenade guy (his head is at default manual aim level). The SWAT guy is nice enough to leave his M16 and Flak Jacket for you. Go around the corner. In the doorway to the left are two guys, one behind the table and one against the wall. Sneak and snipe them then go on. As you go down the ramp a guy rushes around the corner so be ready for him. As soon as he comes in run back to the room you were just in and hide behind the table. Sneak and snipe him (creep forward if you dare). Go to the doorway on the right. The last sniper is inside. Sneak and snipe him to complete the objective and get a Checkpoint. Climb into the window, and then jump down. Does this area look familiar? Go to the corner and run to the cubbyhole you originally went into (snipers will start firing at you so use O to dodge them). Look by the large billboard on the other side of the road for one sniper. A second is on the roof to the right of the first one. Another is across the street on the road.
NOTE: If you didn't take it before the Flak Jacket is still here.
Go right to the alley and go to the corner. An Agency guy is just around the corner in front of a flaming barrel. Sneak and snipe him and head forward. Go under the fence by crouching and go into the "playground." You get a Checkpoint and a radio message from Lian as well as an added objective - rescue some SWAT officers (see map). Exit the playground carefully. Stick to the left side. A SWAT guy is at the end of the street. When he spots you (just peek around the left hand corner and duck back under cover), a van races in and destroys him. Then Agency guys rush in. One comes toward you (he has Flak Jacket) so get him with a headshot. Another is on the roof and lobs grenades at you. Just nudge your way out so you can get a good shot at him. Creep over to the second orange dumpster and get a third Agency guy in the cubbyhole to the left at the end of the street (he has a Flak Jacket too if you need it). Note that the cubbyhole is actually a dead end alleyway. Carefully head to the right towards the raised barrier. An Agency guy is in the doorway to the right. Sneak and snipe him then creep inside and go carefully around the corner. You will come to an area with a counter, a clock on the wall, and a red sign on the wall that says courtyard. Don't miss the ammo box with G-18 inside behind the counter if you need it. Proceed towards the flashing police lights. You overhear an officer requesting back up. Proceed out into the courtyard and head towards the officer behind the police car. You hatch a plan - you will cover the officer so she can move up and check on her wounded partner - and you get a Checkpoint. Equip M-16 or maybe the G-18 and start firing at the snipers (use auto aim) and alternate which ones you shoot at every couple of shots. You only need to shoot enough to make them duck. When she makes it you move up and find a badly wounded officer. The other officer tries to stop you (that's gratitude for ya). You dive off to complete the objective and get another Checkpoint. Head up the stairs (you can go to the opposite side of the building but the SWAT girl takes headshots at you and you get to the same place anyway). There is a guy to the left at the top of the second stairs (he won't come out until you reach the top - just run back down the stairs when he comes out and sneak and snipe him to get his Flak Jacket). Sneak carefully into the first open doorway. Peek carefully around the corner to catch a glimpse of the sniper then get him with a headshot (you see the snipers around the corners where you see the buildings through the windows). Proceed to the next opening and get that sniper then head for the third sniper. He may already be in the hall trying to headshot you so be smarter and quicker and get him first. When you do you call Lian then see an FMV where Stevens captures and kills the female SWAT officer. Then explosions rip through the building. The mission ends and you can save.

TWENTIETH MISSION: New York Sewer
LOCATION: New York, USA: Slums District
DATE/TIME: 09/13 21:30
OPERATIVE: Gabe Logan
BRIEFING: Teresa has saved you from an ambush set by Stevens by detonating a controlled series of C4 charges underneath the tenement you were in. The floor collapsed and you've fallen through, down to the sewers running underneath the building.

You're now heading through the sewers back to the chopper. Follow Teresa and keep her alive.

Seems Teresa set the explosions off. Now you are in the sewers. Just follow Teresa and blast anything that moves. By the way you've lost your original weapons stash so Teresa loans you her 45. When the game starts there is an ammo box with a Flak Jacket inside if you need it. Otherwise just keep up with Teresa and blast anything that is not her. She waits until you catch up if you fall behind. You can pick up H-11 and HK-5 as well as 45 ammo from the guys you've blasted. Just keep following Teresa.
NOTE: Just ignore guys that are not an immediate threat - only shoot the ones that are in your way or that are endangering Teresa. Remember you have to keep her alive (even though it is obvious she can kick butt and take names herself).
When you catch up with Teresa the second time (maybe more if you have a hard time keeping up) she is standing at a river of sewage (eewww!!!). You must go back and find the drain valve. You also get a Checkpoint. This sounds easier than it is. The sewer is a maze of tunnels. However the easy way to find it is to go back and set yourself up to go left across the next bridge. In other words you want to go down the left side of the tunnel you are in. When you reach the left wall just follow it all the way around until you reach a doorway on the left. Sneak carefully to the next corner. Two guys are inside, one with a Flak Jacket. Sneak and snipe them then go inside. Get to the sewage drain control switch at the back of the room and use it. Teresa calls and says she is going after Stevens. You complete the objective and get a Checkpoint but then two guys come into the room from behind you. Find cover and sneak and snipe them. Both have Flak Jackets; one may come close and throw grenades. After you get them, go back towards Teresa - stay on the right hand wall and take all rights. When you get to the end you fall to a ledge below. Head left. Get another Checkpoint. When you get to the next sewage waterfall jump up to the ledge on the left. Run forward and go right. When you get to the large square area (path runs all the way around the edge) creep to the right. There are three guards, two by the control area and the third off to the left. Get the two by the control panel, then sneak over and take cover behind the control panel and get the third. Run to where the pipe stretches across the area above you for a Checkpoint. There is a Flak Jacket in an ammo box to the right if you need it but you might want to save it until you make it across the pipe. Go under the pipe, turn around, and then jump to grab it to get the best firing angles for the bad guys to come. Shimmy across quickly. A guy may shoot at you from below and another appears on the ledge you just left - shoot him. Teresa also comes in to help you out (now you see why to save the Flak Jacket - go back for it if you need it). When you get across the pipe jump down and proceed down the hall. You can see many grisly examples of Teresa's handiwork as you go. Go on up the stairs until you see Teresa crouched by a van. Walk towards her.
