2001-2002 SUMMARY
This 2001-2002 season has been Far Flungs most successful since it began. We've entered more tournaments, and achieved better results than ever before, as well as combining effectively with Mud Culture to ensure the continued existence and development of decent outdoor ultimate in glasgow. This page summarises the tournaments which did not have a full report written for them.
-
Beginners tournament: As always the beginners tournament lived up to it's reputation of one of the best fun tournaments around. We set off with only one team this year due to a dissapointing number of new recruits, but made up for our lack of numbers with bucketloads of enthusiasm. In the end we finished 29th and took the party prize, which. lets face it was what we were really there for anyway.
-
Scottish student ultimate league meeting 1: The first of the newly devised SSUL meetings took place at DISC in dundee and was a twelve team one day tournament. In the end Far Flung took first place after defeating Positive Mojo in the final.
-
Leeds tournament: This was an open tournament and provided some of the best games which Far Flung have played all season. We eventually came third after losing in the semi-finals to Mexican Horse Bandits, who were the current open indoor champions at the time.
-
Scottish Student Indoor Ultimate Championships: This tournament was held in glasgow for the third year running and 15 teams from throughout scotland attended. Far flung entered 3 teams, which eventually finished first, sixth and fifteenth.
-
Magic Circle 2 After coming second last year we were pretty set on beating that result this year. Surprise, we managed it, beating an Edinburgh amalgamation of canadians and kiwi's called Bloody Tourists in the final.
I apologise for the crapness of these reports, if anybody else would like to submit more full/entertaining accounts of the events at any of these tournaments then please feel free to write one and email it to me.
