Ulysses'
Challenge #9
for last month's challenge)
Ulysses: ["Let's go surfing now, everybody's learning how, come on a safari with me..."] Oh hello, everyone! All of us here at Chess Odyssey hope you had a great Thanksgiving, and that you are already having a warm and wonderful holiday season. We hope to see you at both our Holiday Camp (December 29-31) and our exciting Winter Olympics Team Tournament (January 10).
I’ve got a different
sort of challenge for you this month. Rather
than testing your tactical skills, I’m going to test your research skills.
All you have to do is send me a list of the names of the official World
Chess Champions in order. Actually, that would be two lists, because you
also need to send me the names of the Women’s World Chess Champions in order.
And, in addition
to our usual Ulysses Challenge
prizes, this month we have a special extra prize for
the first five young ladies who sends us a correct
answer!
To get you started, here's the first entry for each list:
World Champions: Wilhelm Steinitz
Women’s World Champions: Vera Menchik-Stevenson
Somewhere on our web site is a link with the answers. Good luck, and happy surfing!
Remember, every Chess Odyssey student who gets a solution to me before the 12/31/03 deadline will receive 2 points...or 5 points if their solution is correct. You can turn it in at club, or mail your solution (with your name and return address!) to Chess Odyssey, 2373 NW 185th, #261 Hillsboro, OR 97124, or you can type your solution in an email and send it here.
Note:
If you're not a Chess Odyssey student, feel free to send
us your answer anyway--points
and
prizes are only for those in our programs, but
we'll be happy to let you know how you did!
