Multiplayer |
Halo multiplayer is split two ways - cooperative mode and regular deathmatch/CTF
types. Cooperative mode is exactly what it sounds like - you and another
of your friends can play through the entire single player campaign together.
There are some limitations, though, as your saving options are a bit limited
(you can save the level, but not the checkpoint, like you can when playing
alone).
Halo also shines when it comes to deathmatch/CTF style multiplayer as
well. Where as in most games you're limited to just a few modes, Halo ships
with 26 different multiplayer modes. That's not all, though. These modes
are all completely configurable and you can even create you own entirely
new modes, so the multiplayer possibilities are basically limitless! These
modes are built off of base modes which include:
Capture the Flag (CTF)
In CTF the object of the game is to capture the enemy flag and return
it to your own base, but there are a number of options that change the
rules of the game in all sorts of unpredictable ways.
King of the Hill
In King of the Hill, the object of the game is to capture and hold
key locations on the map. The first player to occupy the target zone for
a pre-set amount of time wins the game.
Slayer
Slayer games feature head-to-head battles against the other players.
The first player or team to eliminate a certain number of enemies wins
the game.
Oddball
In Oddball the object of the game is to find and hold the ball for
as long as you can. The Oddball basic rules can also be changed so that
you can play lots of other game types as well.
Race
Be the first player or team to "tag" all the objective points that
appear during the game to win the race.
As mentioned, all of these modes are fully customizeable allowing you
(on most included maps) to allow/not allow vehicles on the map, which type
of vehicles should be allowed, which weapons should be allowed, and so
on. |
