Rygar: The Legendary Adventure (PS2)

Nope, Tecmo didn't ask me to advertise Rygar

Whats it about?
Its a god damn cool game where you play as Rygar, a legend 
who swings a yo-yo like armor called DISKARMOR. Its story is 
full of twist despite being a short one. And in fact, i think 
this game is heavily influenced by Devil May Cry not Shinobi .

Why you will like this game?
-Swinging your cool Diskarmor is cool especially when you hit 
and kill multiple enemies. Grabbing them and smashing the 
monsters at each other is mere icing on the cake(like Milkman 
of EGM said).
-unlike Shinobi, this game is full of secrets and destructable 
enviroment. One of the secrets is a new look for thew Diskarmor
(its so fun that i don't want to spoil it for you)
-the plentiful save points in the game ensures a fun and easy
(for some)ride. At least you won't get to play the areas for 
the 108th times
-plenty of replay value... more than Shinobi.... Play through 
it to get more Mystic Stomes(addition to the Diskarmor)
-adjust your difficulty(get easy mode after you die 3 times.... 
unlike shinobi... but i heard that you won't get some stuff... 
not sure)
-awesome backgrounds

Verdict: 8.5/10

Like many Sega games(Shinobi is an exception), it came out of 
NOWHERE and completely blew me away. You must play it yourself 
to know how COOL it is to swing your Diskarmor and just kill 
your wormy friends and see how the juices spew out 'lovingly' =P

My Views

-heavily influenced by Devil May Cry(this is the 
producer's comments)
Not exactly.... its more influenced by..... those 
one-drop-you-are-dead-and-no-check-points game.(my comments)

-as good as the oldies (Shinobi that is)
Not surely... i am new to the series....

-ninja fast paced action game by Overworks
Pretty true(on the fast paced).... but i think its not THAT 
fast... which means is slower than i expected.... BUT the 
speed is just right for the game

-no ninja doggy for our hero...
And you have to fight those bastards too.

-long scarf to identify him from the rest
Actually its pretty easy to recongnise due to his speed.... 
but the camera is..... *sigh*

-cool scarf
I agree

-expect intestines and guts from tanks
I only remember seeing flesh exposed ont he tanks.... 
but i don't really see intestines.... removed cause its too
gross for the kids? We will never know....

-left analog controls the movement and right the camera!
In fact one of the few good points of the gameplay.... helps 
you find the sometimes well hidden and other clearly exposed 
coins

-LONG GAME
All thanks to its difficulty

Comments:
Makes you wanna play more(only when you keep winnning.... 
However it makes you very fustrated... Especially during some 
boss fights(Tate makes life easier) and the fact that 
ninjas can't swim(not forgeting the missing checkpoints)

Verdict: 7/10
Nice but #%$&%#$@
Play Rygar instead if you hate:
-to restart for the 108th times cause you can't swim
-grab 10 secret coins just to get a stupid movie viewer
(20 for secret picture viewer and 30/40 for new playable 
characters)
-Difficult games
-wasting too much time on a game(Rygar have enough save points 
to ensure a fun ride)
-to rush through the game. At an early stage, the sword forces 
you to rush through the game due to the stupid hungry sword you 
carry)
-thats about it.

NEW GAME RECOMMENDATION!
Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2... Yeah, its on anything 
(of the next Gen consoles) but PS2.... Yes, i am getting 
Gamecube for that reason... and with that, Nintendo Gamecube
is enterin the online game console war...... not really cause
its the only online game for Gamecube.. and the modem looks
cool and cheap....
