BEGINS HERE ALBUM REVIEW, HERE IS THE PIECE
The Buttefly Effect - Begins Here
Aussie Grungers Dose up on art-Rock
On this, their debut album, Australian band, The Butterfly Effect take a
typically Ozzie love of early 90's grunge, and filter through it the
ominous mood and goth dynamics of 'Undertow' - era Tool. The resulting
hybrid is best exemplified by 'Consequence', a track that recalls A
Perfect Circle in its soaring guitar riff, detunned Bass line and
bittersweet Alice In Chains harmonies (albeit A Perfect Circle fronted
by Chad Kroger). Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton is the biggest
inspiration on Clint Boge's powerful singing style. Boge veers between
Patton's furious rapping, James Maynard Keenan's hushed, breathy
seething and Eddie Vedder's stern-faced hollering. The subjects tackled
have a typically grungy grizzling introspection and the lyrics are at
times clumsy ("Your reason is treason like poison" - Always').
However, if you consider The Butterfly Effect as a cooler, darker
alternative to Nickleback in the grunge revivalist stakes - and don't
listen too closely to the words - 'Begins Here' will not disappoint. 7
out of 10.

I LOVE THIS QUOTE FROM THAT PIECE -
"IF A BANDS SUCCESS CAN BE MEASURED IN THE NUMBER OF BODIES THEY
ARRE FORCED TO TURN AWAY FROM THEIR GIGS, THEN THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT HAVE
OFFICIALLY 'MADE IT'".
