This card game uses mind and skill, and it basically relates to Final Fantasy VIII’s Triple Triad game. If you’d like to sharpen your Triple Triad skills, then try Mystical Justice’s game on for size. If you need a tip, on how to build your FFVIII Triple Triad card deck, scroll down to the bottom, and read the tip down below.

RULES:

  1. In order to play our card game, you and your opponent MUST have at least five cards. We will have our card page updated, at times, so you can go to this site, and download our usual cards. We will give you the templates, but it’s up to you, on how to create your own cards.

  1. This rule applies to all card gamers. You are not allowed to play the same card twice. It means that you can’t play your opponent, using two or more versions of the same card. We don’t want any cheaters, so be exclusive with your cards. Of course, it is okay if your opponent has the same card as you are playing.

  1. If you can’t make up your mind, on who goes first, one suggestion is to flip a coin. Be sure to let fate decide who plays the first card.

  1. This card game uses nine spots, 3x3 squares. It is up to you on how to place your cards around the squares. One tip is to place the first card on the corner, blocking the low numbers on the edges. For former Triple Triad players, this is one move that you mainly use.

  1. Use markers, such as bingo chips, or game pieces of the same colour for you, but a different colour for your opponent. This will determine which card(s) belongs to the player, or what card(s) the player has conquered.

  1. Watch what cards your opponent places. One way is to use the numbers on the sides to conquer your opponent’s card(s). The numbers on the top, left, right, and bottom determines the value of the card is per side. For example, if there is a 7 on the top-left, and a 5 on the top-right, add it up, and the total value of the card on the top is 12. The values of the card, are the same for the left, right, and bottom. You can conquer (the bottom with the top), (the top with the bottom), (the right with the left), and (the left with the right).

  1. Another way to conquer your opponent’s card(s) is by elementals. The element of the card is determined by the colour of the orbs surrounding the card, and the colour of the numbers. Here is a list to determine elementals, by colour:

Red-Orange – Fire – Conquers Ice Automatically

Yellow – Thunder – Conquers Water Automatically

Light Blue – Ice – Conquers Fire Automatically

Green – Poison – Conquers Holy Automatically

Brown – Earth – Conquers Wind/Poison Automatically

Dark Blue – Water – Conquers, Fire/Thunder Automatically

Dark Gray – Wind – Conquers Earth Automatically

White – Holy – Conquers Poison Automatically

Black – No Element

Study these elementals, and their effects are, if you are more interested in becoming a superb Mystical Justice Card Player.

8.      The game continues until all the cards on the 3x3 squares are all played. The player who conquers the most cards wins the game.

(Optional): If you’d like to become a true Mystical Justice card collector, you could keep the cards you conquered yourself, and let your opponent have the cards that he/she conquered. This would make the game more fun, and more exclusive. If you want to win back your cards, you must either practice, and learn what cards your opponent has, to try and win them back, or try different strategies. Practice, practice, practice!

For Triple Triad Players: This is a tip for beginners of the Final Fantasy VIII Triple Triad game. When you are on the first disc, before you enter the Fire Cavern, and you would like to start a card collection and you run out of cards and can’t win any card games, follow this tip, and you’ll be able to start a card collection easy. First, Junction Squall or Quistis, with Quezacotl, and make sure that he learns the ‘Card’ mode first. This modification, will allow you to turn monsters into cards. Make sure to junction the card modifier before you follow the next step. Next, either go to the Training Center and fight Grats, or outside Balamb Garden and fight Bite Bugs, Caterchipillars, Fastitocalon-Fs, or Glacial Eyes. When you fight the monster, strike it a few times, until the monster almost destroyed, then use the card modifier, and turn the monster into a card. Keep wandering around, and turn the monsters into cards, until you have enough, such as about 30-40 cards total. If you get a rare card, such as Shumi Tribe, Elvoret, Trauma, or Jumbo Cactuar, be sure to save that card for later on. When you have enough monster cards, visit the town of Balamb, and find the Card Queen outside the train station. Press the square button to challenge the Queen to a game of cards. Make sure you only play the monster cards you won on the battlefield. Keep challenging the Queen, until the game turns into ‘Direct’. You might lose some cards in the process, but it gets better later. Now, you can challenge other card players, and they will play ‘Direct’. ‘Direct’ means that the cards you conquer, you can keep, and the cards the player conquers, they keep. You will win some really good cards, while the card players win, insignificant monster cards. With this tip, you can build your card deck, with nothing to lose but insignificant cards, such as Bite Bugs, Grats, Glacial Eyes, Caterchipillars, and Fastitocalon-Fs. Neat, huh?
