After being bitten by a radioactive spider, nerdy high school student Peter Parker finds his body chemistry altered so that he gains the powers of a spider and gains "spider-sense" that warns him of impending danger. Peter first uses his newfound powers to try to win some money in the wrestling arena, but after his uncle is murdered by a criminal Peter could have stopped but didn't, he swears to use his powers to fight evil.
Meanwhile, scientist and businessman Norman Osborne exposes himself to a new nerve gas he developed, which makes him psychotic and he becomes the Green Goblin. Parker is hired as a newspaper photographer for a tough newspaper editor, J. Jonah Jameson, in a battle against the Green Goblin, and trying to win the affections of Mary Jane Watson.
