Russ: 3 pics, 1st is kitchen knives, next 2 are daggers. Descriptions are below. All of the kitchen knives are ones with somewhat larger handles.

Top knife is a chef knife I received as a gift. The handle is extra long, maple burl with mosaic pin. The blade itself has some scratches as if someone tried to polish it up but didn't do a very good job. I believe this is a kitchen knife blank someone purchased from a knife supply and made their own finished knife with it.

Next knife is AG Russell 8" damascus chef with Grantons. My search of AG Russell's web site seems like they no longer carry this exact model. Knife was built in Japan for AG. Blade is a san-mai of VG-10 core with stainless damascus outsides. I have etched and hand rubbed the blade to show the damascus as it should be. Handle is white Corian.

Next is a 7.5" blade custom made by Pat Randall, 440-C steel, finish looks similar to hand rubbed but I think he did it on a belt. Sanding pattern runs lengthwise instead of the usual vertical belt marks. Handle is stabilized maple burl with brass rivets.

Last is a Shun paring knife, I got this in a trade on knifeforums. Most of the people in the kitchen forum there rate the Shun paring as one of the best paring knives. This one has been used and is scratched and scuffed. I could refinish it but I have not bothered to because this is a user for my kitchen. Handle is what they call D-shaped, ayssymetric for right handed users.

Next are two daggers I thought you might like, they are damascus made in India, probably not very hard steel, but I liked them for the artistry and tradition they represent. India is where the first wootz damascus originated. India also has a tradition of pattern welded blades. The 'chevron' pattern is a traditional indian pattern found on ancient swords. The book On Damascus Steel by Leon Figiel page 107 has a picture of a 17th century Indian talwar sword with pattern welded damascus in a chevron pattern. The dagger with twist handle is bone I believe, the rectangular handle is wood.

SG-2 Waterfall Damascus Shun Kramer Meiji 9" Bread Knife

The damascus is tightly layered, highly polished with lots of activity, on par with some of the best custom knives. They call it a "waterfall" pattern because reflections ripple in it like water. This line is discontinued and no longer being made.
