First Tidbits from the Panel

Hi,everyone, just a few disorganized and random impressions and memories from the panel to hold you over.

William Schmidt and Larry Andries were so real and so wonderful to talk to. And they were so appreciative of our effortsw. They saidthat they wouldn't even be here today without us. An executive from SciFi cornered him (sammi is dictating to me) and told him that it was because of the Prey Fan base that Vincent got his job in the Invisible Man. ANd also told William they need to get together to talk about Prey.

He gave us hope. He's currently working for charmed but after charmed he's going back to wb. Len Goldstein exec of drama development at wb is excited about Prey. He did say this could take up to a couple of years. He said Adam was very passionate about the project and he thought Adam would come back to the part again as long as he wasn't working on anything else. As far as he knows, Adam isn't working on anything currently.

DianeS asked if they minded people writing fanfic. Bill Schmidt said he didn't mind at all - he figured it was his job to pique interest and imagination. And that is the quote that stuck the most with me! He sure did a helluva job piquing it, didn't he, preymates? Wow!

Larry Andries read Genny's fanfic and told her, 'This is really good writing.' He sat there and read it!

Adam read with each actress that they auditioned and Debra jumped out of the screen at them.

Bill Schmidt said he wrote the Prey Bible on weekends during the filming of the first pilot in Toronto and said it was the most fun he had in his writing career. He will be in touch with Mary Ann about getting us a copy and the scripts. The Bible is kind of like a novel and gives the new species a whole history and culture and background! And he's going to try to get us a copy of Hungry for Survival Film.

Hungry for Survival- before the ending credits had faded from the screen, Carol shouted 'I have to have a copy of this tape, You're not leaving with this tape!'

DOes that tell you anything about how good it was?

And Bill smiled and said he would try to get us a copy.

BRIAN LOWRY WAS THERE!!! WATCH TO SEE IF AND WHAT HE WRITES!

When Bill left the show, he said Debra went into her trailer and cried and wouldn't come out. He said he really appreciated that.

And Bill and Larry got SUCH ENJOYMENT out of all the creative things that were done at the PREY table - they helped themselves to all the neat Prey products with gusto.

There's much more but that's for starts, and you'll probably get the gospel according to other preymates so that you get a well-rounded view.

Jeanne, Sammi, barb, Peeps, Clarke, and Bennie - signing off for now.

We got in past midnight, and back to work today! What a pleasure it was to meet everyone - and their friends and families - and spend some time getting to know one another face to face! Mom and Benny had fun too - they spent some time with the preymates, and spent some time doing their own thing - took off to see the sights of LA ... met people ... made friends ... :)

The weather was great, LA is beautiful, and the sight-seeing I had a chance to participate in, on Monday, was Fun!

And I'm so impressed with us, Preymates - what a lean, mean, fighting machine we're turning into - between your efforts on-line and our efforts at the con - and the way we all work together - I think we may have made a dent this weekend, Preymates!

I'm so glad Peeps brought her laptop and Diane brought her laptop and digital camera, and faithfully posted her fabulours pics on the board - so you could 'be there with us' and so we could keep in touch with you! To hear about Valerie's husband - so glad he's okay and that Kristen won the Championships. And the connection paid off for us big time - with Mr. Engler's post and Mr. Schmidt's and Mr. Andries panel. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! :)

We're using the technology and we're fighting smart - and if we can stick to it - Bill Schmidt said he would keep a line of communication open with Mary Ann - we might just have a chance at success!

Jill, you may not have been with us physically, but believe me, your presence, and your touch was deeply felt in all that transpired! :)

Shadowman Karen that goes for you too! And I want a tee-shirt like Mary Ann's to wear at work! My co-workers will get a real kick out of it. ;)

So many people have contributed so much - both on-line, and off, to the convention and to the campaign and to taking care of one another - it's hard to start listing names - because almost assuredly I'll leave someone out who did something vital! I guess I can blame it on jet lag? But thanks to all our California Preymates, Sue H., Diane G., Carol H., Sammi, and Yuki - and now Lee Ann, barb, and Kiera!!! You made us feel so welcome. And thanks to Elaine - girl, you did a wonderful job organizing this con - and you gave the campaign a new lease on life! I can only guess how much work it was - only you really know that. Your husband was great - and oh, did he and others take some good videotapes, preymates - just wait'll you see them. ;)

We should just all feel really good and be really proud of ourselves - because it's taken all of us - and it's taken all we each can give!

Thanks to you, Peeps, for all your hard work - and for taking the time to coax me and my family out there!!! :)
