Michael ran in one day and got under the bed. He was crying. I crawled under to see what the trouble was. He said, "Danny hit me and I hit him back. He went to tell his mother and she will be down here to get me for hitting Danny." I said, "She won't do anything to you while I'm here! How bad did you hurt him?" Michael answered, "Well, he hit me first and I hit him back with a stick." A few minutes later Libby came down to tell me that Michael hit Danny. I told her I didn't think Danny was hurt any worse than Michael was. I told her to tell her mother that when the boys had a disagreement and a few licks were passed it was best to let them settle things themselves. Michael would hit back if he was hit first. He wasn't going to stand there and let Danny beat him up anymore. They continued to disagree sometimes but they would always get over it. They did not hit each other anymore either.
