You can gain GP from winning Chocobo racing bets or winning games at the Wonder Square. There's loads of stuff to do at the Gold Saucer. It's a theme park with rides, loads of games, Chocobo racing, and a battle arena.

At the battle arena, one person of a group can take part in a number of battles to win battle points which can be exchanged for items. It costs 10 GP to play. The chosen fighter fights 8 random battles, which increase in difficulty. These battles are virtually simulated but effects are added to make it feel as if the participant is really fighting an enemy. The participant will receive battle points at the end of the tournament, which are exchanged for items. If you get a serious handicap, it will bump up your battle points. The max amount of battle points (BP) you can get is 64000, which is enough for the best item. You have to spend your points before you leave the arena or you will lose them. Items can be exchanged for a wide variety of items ranging from a FF7 t-shirt to actually getting an entertainment system with a PS2 and a copy of FF7.

Also available is what is known as Speed Arena. This is a roller coaster where the rider has to shoot targets in front of them and try to beat the day's high score. All you have to do here is shoot the different targets to gain points. Collect 3000 points or more to gain a prize. If you do really well you will obtain a special prize. Keep the laser powered up. Targets range from 30 points to 70. There is one target that is worth 1000 points, it's a large UFO near the end of the course.
