Playground Analysis

What makes a playground interactive entertainment, special, and successful (or not)? A playground can be classified as Interactive Entertainment because this is a place where people of all ages come together and socially interact with one another to entertain themselves. Playgrounds are unlike many other forms of entertainment. A playground not only allows for enjoyment but it allows a child to stimulate their brain. A child can test his artistic abilities in the sand box. As stated before the playground allows for more than one age group to be pleased. Adults are relieved of daily duties and can be care-free at the park not worrying about much.

A playground is special because it is limitless where a child can take his imagination unlike other forms of entertainment. Playgrounds do not limit the user to specific ways of doing things; one child can ride the swing backwards while the other swings forwards. There are countless adventure and endless games to be had with the help of a simple playground. In laments terms a playground can best be described as “The toy that will never grow old.” This is a place where a child can be in charge of himself and feel free to do as he pleases.

A successful playground has a simple design; one that is too complicated will only deter the child away. If the playground resembles something a child would imagine it will be a great success. Children want a playground with risk and excitement, different forms of entertainment. This could include things like Monkey Bars, Swings, A pole to climb, or a slide they can climb up. This kind of free structure is the perfect type of playground for a child’s imagination.

What makes a playground “interactive entertainment?” The interaction between the child and the playground itself makes it Interactive Entertainment. With this interaction a playground is just a structure of metal and/or wood. The magic of a playground is shown through a child’s imagination that runs freely when they enter the playground. The amount of entertainment available for a child at a playground is limitless which is why the child loves to revisit the playground even though they have already been there. This is because every time the child comes to the playground it is a new adventure for them do to the imagination.

What is interactive entertainment? To interact, one thing must act on another and there must be a return action as defined in class. Interaction takes place between humans, a human to video game, etc. Most daily activities require some form of Interaction. What is entertainment? Entertainment was defined as some form of enjoyment. In other words if something is fun, it is also entertainment. This means the range of entertainment is huge; it could be anything from talking to your girlfriend to watching a scary movie. Entertainment for most people is a way to express emotions they have and would like to be known. People in general like to be entertained and a lot of entertainment is gained through Interacting with something or someone. This can be described as Interactive Entertainment. Interactive Entertainment extends in to a realm achieved best by young children because they have the greater imagination. When a child plays, that child’s imagination runs free and they believe they are is partaking in their imaginary world. Interactive Entertainment spans a massive range of activities, as long as it meets the criteria of Interactive and Entertainment you can call it Interactive Entertainment.

Is a playground Interactive entertainment? By definition an empty playground is but a structure that offers a form of entertainment. But when a child enters this playground it becomes a place of Interactive Entertainment because of the child’s imagination. The child does not see it as just a playground; he sees it as a world of its own. The simplest things become amusing to a child when they enter a playground. Climbing the stairs becomes a, sliding down a slide becomes an escape route, etc. So I believe for a playground to be Interactive entertainment it has to be preoccupied by a person.
