August 1, 1942-The keel of Z44 is laid in the Deschimag A.G. shipyards in Bremen.
January 20, 1944-The Z44 is launched and begins a period of fitting out in Industriehaven.
July 29, 1944-The Z44 is sunk during an air raid while still being fitted out. The wreck is broken up from 1946-1947.
