Application and Fees
A new Scout will be given an application form to fill out and return. Each Scout may purchase a subscription to Boys Life Magazine (optional) at the time of registration and the troop will pay for future renewals while the boy is a registered Scout with Troop 242. The Scout will also need to purchase a tan Boy Scout shirt (the troop will reimburse each new Scout up to $5.00 for purchase of this shirt), and optional Boy Scout pants/shorts (see Uniforming). Many times a retired Boy Scout shirt can be found at the local Goodwill, or other Goodwills in the surrounding area for a very minimal price. New shirts may be purchased at Hawkeye Scout Shop or from Fin & Feather in Iowa City (943 S. Riverside Dr.
Iowa City, IA 52246 - 319-354-2200). Financial assistance may be available upon request.
