Richie asked the seminole question via e-mail this week. He wants to know when Jason X is coming out. Well Richie, I would like to know also. Fangoria lists it as simply an "Unconfirmed 2001" release. My bet would be on Easter or early summer, but I guess we might have to wait for fall 2001 (I doubt it and hope not!). The truth is that it's back under the knife of re-editing and re-tooling (and rumor has it that some of the effects are being re-done to make them look better). I hope that this proves to be a blessing in disguise and that the movie comes out in an even better form.
For those of you who read the first news update, you know that Paramount is working on F13 DVD releases, but without much in the way of extras on the discs. The number one way to see special "Director's Cuts" is to get the directors involved. I don't know how to get ahold of any of these men (do you?), but here's a list of all the F13 directors...
  • Sean S. Cunningham Friday the 13th
  • Steve Miner Friday the 13th Part 2
  • Steve Miner Friday the 13th 3-D
  • Joseph Zito Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
  • Danny Steinmann Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
  • Tom McLoughlin Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
  • John Carl Buechler Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
  • Rob Hedden Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan
  • Adam Marcus Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday
So, if anyone know how to get ahold of these guys (or knows them personally) please let me know.

In other DVD news, it looks as if Parts V and VI will be released this month. The most surprising thing is that they have new box art. I don't know if I like the idea or not, but I guess we should be happy that they're at least doing something new. The images are below - You can order these from just about any place you please.

And for those of you looking to get the first movie on VHS tape (or want to complete you F13 collection), the first movie has been re-released on VHS just in time for HalloweeN. You can get it all Wal-Mart for like $7, but I haven't seen it anywhere else yet. The artwork is in the same style as the new DVD releases above.

That's all for now. Check back next Tuesday for the next update here at THe DiRTMouND
