spam death count | funny spam I have received | how to kill spam (in plain english) | how to hurt spam, the fun way | advanced lessons (links to other sites) how to hurt spam, the fun way As most people know, replying to the "remove" link included in most e-mails actually insures that you will get even more spam, because the "remove" mailbox exists solely to confirm that your e-mail address is active. So, how does one, in light of this, turn the tables against these deceptions? THe answer is simple: create a new account on a free mail server, then send "remove" requests from that mailbox. Once you've requested enough "removes" to have been added to a bunch of spam lists and receiving a truckload of spam (believe me, this will take no time at all), then have the account closed. The end result is an e-mail address that is on a bunch of spammers' mailing lists that is dead. Now just think, what if hundreds, no, thousands, of people did this exact thing? The result would be that spammers' mailing lists would be in shambles, with much more dead e-mail addresses than live. Another great thing, is that the very few spammers that actually use the "remove" address to take you off their mailing list, will be rewarded for their honesty by not having a dead e-mail address on their list. This is a beautiful thing. |
