Angus McKinnon Young

the biography of
Angus Young was born on March 31st, 1955 in Glasgow, Scotland, later moving to Sydney, Australia. He was pretty much your average teen-- he hated school. The only thing he could tolerate was art which allowed him a small amount of freedom of expression. Eventually he decided that school just wasn't his thing and got a job at a soft porn company at 15 (wow, wicked first job, ne?) as a printer.

He began playing around with his older brother Malcolm's guitar at 11 with friends, self-teaching himself experimentally until he finally had his method down. Finally he got his own guitar, but unfortunately it was only a cheap acoustic, but that did nothing to put a damper on his spirits.

And then he found the stage as lead guitarist in 1973. His famous 'duckwalk' and his 'on the floor body spasms' were invented purely by accident. He naturally played off of what he could in order to keep an audience's attention. And it worked.

The only other band he ever played with before AC/DC was the Marcus Hook Roll Band to record a song called Tales of Old Granddaddy in 1973. Ever since, he has been the icon of AC/DC for fans all around the world.
