bon scott: the biography of
Ronald Belford Scott (aka Bon Scott) was born on July 9th, 1946 in Kirriemuir, Scotland, soon to relocate in 1952 to Australia. His entire family was of the musical 'breed', thus giving him the inspiration he needed to become one of the most unforgettable rock stars of that wonderful era of classic rock.

He started out not with vocals, but with a small recorder during school, occasionally trying his hand at the piano and accordion. He finally made the descision to settle on drums after awhile.

Bon, like Angus quit school at 15. He had numerous jobs such as tractor-driving and working as an apprentice.

He was discovered by the Spektors in 1966, though he moved on to the Valentines soon after, and eventually that band fell apart after a drug bust in 1970. He moved on to play with a band by the name of Fraternity, playing numerous shows until he and his band was asked to support a band named Geordie-- fronted by none other than Brian Johnson in the UK (small world). Unfortunately, Fraternity didn't have the success he expected it to and they returned to Australia, where Bon was involved in a motorbike accident which left him in a coma for three days and and in the hospital for awhile after, forcing him to end his time with Fraternity.

Again he had to take up his habit of doing odd jobs, and one just happened to be the limosine driver for AC/DC when it was in the hands of Dave Evans. He suggested himself as a better lead singer than Dave, and when Dave disappeared from a gig, he finally found his way into becoming a major part of AC/DC.

But unfortunately his reign would be cut short. He was an 'excessive drinker' and died in a car in Southern London after a night of drinking just a bit over the line on February 19th, 1980.
