® MASS AS SHADOWS, 2002

Why Thursday?

The time I fell into Full Collapse was during an extremely painful and difficult point in my life. Driving to and from college--this album was pretty much all I listened to. Thursday's music was there for me during some really important times--the music means a lot to me.

Why so much Geoff?

I really connect with his lyrics and his ideas. That--and he's a PETA endorsing vegetarian, woo! Also, I have a thing for skinny emo-looking guys. :D He's nothing short of a genius, and I'm most inspired to draw him.

What's the process?

Most of the art is from when I was too poor for a printer or any official pictures, so I sketched pictures from my moniter. Then, I took the sketches to classes and finish them there. Eventually, I bought a new printer, and printed out black and white pictures to take to class. Yeah, I should pay more attention to lectures than to Thursday, but o well. :P

Materials?

The pictures start out in pencil, but after I scan them, they lose definition, so I play around in a photo editor. I accentuate shadowing while I'm at it--but these editted drawings are all pretty accurate representations of my actual drawings. The color isn't real--I did that in a photo editor.

What are the original pictures these drawings represent?

I own few original photographs, and I don't own any Thursday members, so these drawings come mostly from pictures I find on the internet. I apologize if I've represented any photograph that you might have taken! I try not to draw from the work of individual fans.

What's your background?

Its pretty obvious I'm not a professional. I've drawn all my life, and I've taken art all through grade school. My only claims to fame are that I was the top art kid in my high school my senior year, I scored a 4 on my AP General Studio Art exam, and I've won more blue ribbons than I could possibly hope to keep track of. However, I haven't taken any art since I've been in college, and its only a hobby to me.

Why do these drawings suck so bad?!

Because I can't draw people! :( I've been struggling to master drawing people only the past few years. Beforehand, I mostly drew horses and other similarly dorky things. :)
