Diagnosis of tuberculosis in RNTCP

A chest symptomatic reports to the nearest health facility, where his sputum is tested. After 3 sputum examination have been examined ,the patient is put on ant tuberculosis treatment when at least two of the three specimens are positive.
If only one specimen is positive ,an x-ray chest is taken. The medical officer decides the treatment to be given on the basis of sputum,xray and clinical examinations.
If all the three specimens are negative,then the patient is given a course of antibiotics for 7-10 days.In case symptoms still persist, an X-ray is taken and the medical officer decides the subsequent treatment
