7.0 COPYING AND PASTING
Copying is a two-step process. First you need to tell Word what it is you want to copy, and then you need to paste it where you want the copy to be located - hence the phrase copying and pasting.

Step 7.1 Position the mouse pointer at the start of the text and drag it to the end of the text to select it.

The text will appear highlighted to indicate that it is selected.

Highlight the text to be copied

Step 7.2 Choose Copy from the Edit menu.

Step 7.3 Use the mouse to position the insertion point under the page break.

Step 7.5 Change the name in the second memo from Harry to Josie.

8.0 SAVING
The document is now complete so you should save it in case it is needed at a later stage. The following steps assume that you will be saving your document on a floppy disk. If you are saving to the hard drive or a network drive, select the appropriate drive and folder instead of A:

Step 8.1 Click on the save button on the tool bar.

Step 8.4 Use the Save In: pull down menu to change the drive to 31/2 Floppy (A:).

Select the floppy drive

Step 8.5 Click on the Save button to save the file.

You will notice that the title of the window now reads Microsoft Word - Memo. In most Microsoft applications you can also use Save from the File menu to save your document.

Using Save will overwrite the original document with the changes you have made. Also under the File menu is a Save As option. Save As allows you to save your document under a new name. The original copy of the document will remain unchanged.

Always remember to save your document frequently in case there is a problem with the computer.
