5.0 BOLDING AND UNDERLINING
Now the subheadings in the document should be formatted to stand out from the main text. To do this you will make the subheadings bold and underlined.

 

Bolding
As with changing the font, bolding is a two-step process. The first step is to select the text. The second is to click on the bold button on the tool bar.

Step 5.1 Select the first subheading, "Introduction".

Step 5.2 Click on the bold button on the tool bar.

The text will be displayed bold. The bold button will appear depressed to indicate that the selected text is bold.

 

Underlining
Again a two-step process is required. The first step is to select the text; the second is to click on the underline button on the tool bar.

Step 5.3 Check that the "Introduction" subheading is still selected.

Step 5.4 Click on the underline button on the tool bar.

6.0 ALIGNMENT

What is alignment?
Alignment describes the position of the text on the line. Text can be left or right aligned, or centered. The figure below explains this.

There are buttons on the tool bar which allow you to align the selected paragraph quickly.

In this exercise you will center the main title of the document.

Step 6.1 Position the mouse pointer anywhere in the main title and click to anchor the insertion point. The insertion point should flash somewhere in the title paragraph.

Step 6.2 Click on the center alignment button to center the text.

The title will appear centered as shown below.

You can also change the justification to right or left alignment using this process.
