7.0 BULLET POINTS
Bullet points will often assist in making text clearer, or easier to read. Use them if you have a list of points to make, or simply want to highlight key issues. Word provides both bullet points and numbered points to assist you in doing this.

In the following exercise you will bullet point two of the paragraphs in the Ampac document.

Step 7.1 Position the insertion point anywhere in the paragraph of text which begins with "Advertising executives wishing ...". This is the second main paragraph.

Step 7.2 Click on the bullet point button on the tool bar.

A bullet point will appear in the left hand margin of the text.

Step 7.3 Position the insertion point somewhere in the next paragraph of text and bullet point that also.

Note also that the left margin of the text has been moved in slightly and the second line of text in the paragraph is aligned with the start of the first line.

This will be discussed in more detail in the next section of this chapter.

 

Numbering paragraphs
Sequentially numbering paragraphs is just as easy.

Step 7.4 Drag the mouse pointer over both of the bullet pointed paragraphs to select them

Step 7.5 Click on the number button on the tool bar.

The paragraphs will now appear sequentially numbered.

Step 7.6 With the paragraphs still selected, click on the bullet point button again to change the format back to bullet points.
