SA Carp Fishing

Article No 1.

26lbs 8oz

1 April 2001

This was the first session that I slept over at this lake and it paid off.

We arrived the saturday morning at 7:30. I immediately went and prebaited the spot I was going to fish with some home made and Hutchi boilies. I set up my gear and put my rods out with 5 free bees on a pva stringer.

Barney did the same but he fished his normal spot which normally paid off big time. I fished a new spot and was worried that I would blank like I normally do , but this time I prepared well and was hopeful to get a lunker.

At 1:35(am) my right hand rod pissed off. The fish was not fighting a lot and we knew it was a big one. When Barney got it in the net I thought it was about 10 k's but it pulled the Ruben Heaton scale to 26lbs 8oz and that is 12.02 kg. I was really excited because I had Broken my personal best by a whole 2kgs. I lost another fish on my left rod.

Now it was Barney's turn. At 2:05(am) he landed a 13lbs 10oz mirror on a Hutchi boilie. Ten minutes later, at 2:15(am), he landed a 16lbs 9oz mirror on a home made boilie. At 3:55(am) he got a hook pull and at 4:15(am) he got a beautiful linear of 12lbs 6oz. This was a real great session and I could not wait to get back again.
