THE COURSE
Learn the essential 13 Postures of
Tai Chi Chuan based on the Tai Chi Sutras
Classes start on the 1st and 16th of each month
THE PROGRAM
This is an intensive 30 hour program designed to transmit
the experience of Tai Chi Chuan. The practice of Tai Chi Chuan balances
and unifies the energy or Chi of heaven and earth with your own energy
or Chi.
The 13 essential postures were received by your coach, Keith Good, from Chow Mam They. Chow modified the Yang form and based it on the Tai Chi Sutras. In the spirit of the Tao Te Ching, less being more, Chow felt that to learn and master the essence of Tai Chi Chuan was an improvement on scratching the surface of many other postures.
All Tai Chi Chuan postures derive their essence from the foundations of the 13 postures, which are rooted in the five elements of Chinese medicine and the eight trigrams of the I Ching.
In our approach to Tai Chi Chuan, learning to calm the mind and relax the body is where enquiry and practice begin. The training day is arranged in such a way that the individual student may acquire new skills at their own pace.
Learning the 13 postures involves the repetition of the physical movements as well as developing a relationship with the root nature of the essence underlying each posture.
