The BLHS Newsletter is put out periodically by a group of students in Mrs. Pennington's Class. Congratulations to the BLHS Academic Team for placing 3rd in state in Quick Recall. Congratulations to Billy Newsome for placing 1st in state in Language Arts. Spencerian University Comes to BLHS Beginning the first week of April, Seniors in Floyd, Pike, and Magoffin County may take a college English class at BLHS through Spencerian College. This class is being offered as part of a transition program to enable students to experience a college class before leaving High School. Students who want to take the class will be able to do so "tuition free". The only cost will be a $90 application fee, a $15 student services fee, and the cost of a book. The class will be held one evening a week and with successful completion students will earn 4 college credit hours. For students not attending Spencerian, the credits can be transferred to other colleges if the course content matches their requirements. Students will also be required to take and entrance exam which will be given at their home high school during the last week of March. According to Donna Rutan, Interim Director of Admissions at Spencerian College, the Transitions Program is offered at their campus in Louisville and Lexington. The class at BLHS is the only class being offered at a high school. This is a wonderful opportunity for all Seniors. Interested students need to see Mrs. Ratliff ASAP. |
