Jacob's pillow stone, we start this study with Isaac sending Jacob, his son, to Laban. Jacob was going to get a wife from the daughters of Laban. Genesis 28:10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. Genesis 28:11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put [them for] his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. Esau was Jacob's brother, both were told by there father not to marry Canaanite women. That is why Jacob was going to Laban, so he could marry a woman of his own people. Esau will marry Canaanite women at this time. Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. The LORD used dreams then and He will use dreams again before He comes. Jacob was seeing angels going to earth from heaven and back. This must have been something to see, just think about it. Super natural beings moving from heaven to earth and back. Genesis 28:13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I [am] the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; This is the covenant of Abraham, our Father is passing the covenant to Jacob. Genesis 28:14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. This documents that Jacob was the one that was blessed with the covenant from our Father. The nations of Israel are spread abroad today and our Father told Jacob this over three thousand years ago. Genesis 28:15 And,behold, I [am] with thee, and will keep thee in all [places] whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done [that] which I have spoken to thee of. Jacob died in Egypt, Our Father is talking about the return of JESUS THE CHRIST. At His return Israel, the natural seed of Jacob, will return to Jerusalem. Genesis 28:16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew [it] not. The stone that Jacob used is most important, it's The Stone of Israel. Our Father is The Rock of Israel, He will use this stone as a symbol of Himself. Genesis 28:17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful [is] this place! this [is] none other but the house of God, and this [is] the gate of heaven. The gate of heaven was the stone he used for a pillow. Jacob also said the house of God. Just how important is this stone? Genesis 28:18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put [for] his pillows, and set it up [for] a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. Jacob anoints the stone with olive oil, the oil of our people. Christ means the anoited one, keep this in mind as you go on with this study. Genesis 28:19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city [was called] Luz at the first. Bethel, Beth = house and el = God in Hebrew, means House of God. This stone has been called the house of God and the gate of heaven, then it is anoited. Just what is this stone. Genesis 28:20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, Genesis 28:21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: Genesis 28:22 And this stone, which I have set [for] a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. Do you think Jacob took the stone with him, you bet he did. This is The Stone of Israel, this stone will be with the nation of Israel always. If you know where the stone is, then you have found Israel. Lets move on to Genesis 31:13 where our Father tells Jacob its time to leave Laban and go home. Jacob served Laban 21 years for Leah and Rachel, in order to marry them. Genesis 31:13 I [am] the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, [and] where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred. After all this time, 21 years, Our Father did not forget about the pillar stone or that it was anointed. Do you really think Jacob left the stone behind. Let us move on to Genesis 35:9 Genesis 35:9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. Genesis 35:10 And God said unto him, Thy name [is] Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. Our Father gives Jacob a new name. Israel. Genesis 35:11 And God said unto him, I [am] God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; A nation and a company of nations, I just don't understand how people can think that the Jews are all of Israel. Thinking like that voids The Word of God Genesis 35:12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. Genesis 35:13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him. Genesis 35:14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, [even] a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. Genesis 35:15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel. This is the same stone or do you think that Jacob went around anointing rocks.
