Doom 3 is a first person shooter horror game for the computer, and will be released on
Xbox by the end of 2005.  This is the third game in the Doom franchise.  The original Doom
was released in 1993, so for the 10th anniversary, the creators of doom, id software, wanted
to release Doom 3, however, the game was held back, and wasn't released until August 3rd,
2004.  Doom 3 took id software over four years to complete from start to finish, but the final
product was well worth the wait.

    Doom 3 takes place in the year 2145, on a Mars science facility run by the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC).  You are a marine that was sent to the base along with a scientist and other marines to figure out why so many scientists have gone missing.  When you arrive at the base, you learn that a lot people have been becoming delusional, saying that there is evil on the planet.

    After playing for a few hours, you learn that the facility has been researching teleportation, and they accidentally opened up a portal to hell.  Instead of closing it like many of the scientists suggested, the lead scientist at the facility keeps the gate open to run experiments on demons they bring through.  The experiment started to get out of hand, and the scientists could no longer contain the number of demons that came through the gate, causing the base to be quickly overrun.

    Your new mission in the game is to work your way to the lower levels of the base, and destroy the portal.  On your way to the lower levels, you encounter many different kinds of demons and monsters.  You acquire a large variety of weapons, but you need to watch the amount of ammunition you have, because it quickly runs out.

    Doom 3 is one of the bloodiest and graphic games to be released in many years, and when that is combined with the graphics of the game, it truly makes this one of the scariest games to be released in a long, long time.  This game is sure to test the limits of any fan of the horror genre.
