Itemized list of networking equipment and components required:
Logical Topologies:
A protocol is a set of rules that govern the communications between computers on a network.
These rules include guidelines that regulate the following characteristics of a network; access
method, allowed physical topologies, types of cabling, and speed of data transfer. Logical
topologies instruct the hardware how to packet and transmit data across a physical topology.
Ethernet:
The Ethernet protocol is by far the most widely used. The Ethernet protocol allows for linear
bus, star, or tree topologies. Data can be transmitted over twisted pair, coaxial, or fiber
optic cable at speeds of 10 and 100Mbps, or 1Gbps.
The foundations of Ethernet are CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection). In an Ethernet network, all computers share a single network segment called a collision domain. When computers transmit data along the segment simultaneously, collision occurs. Each computer then can transmit data only when no other computer is transmitting.
Ethernet uses CSMA/CD described in the IEEE standard 802.3.

Solution for MATS MAN Wireless Telecommunications
This is in response to the RFP proposal submitted for team members Christopher Paul, Meilyng Wigney, Jerry Duhu, Kit Lee, and Rick Legespi representing Mid-Atlantic Services, Inc. (MATS) for a wireless metropolitan area telecommunications technology solution. Our solution is wireless point-to-point connectivity with a router and PBX extension, which fully meets and exceeds all of their requirements.
Wireless Point-to-Point Connectivity with Router and PBX Extension
We recommend a dual T1 TRACER radio for building or campus connectivity, an ADTRAN NetVanta 3000 series router, which can be used to extend corporate LAN connectivity. This application shows the TRACER 4203/4103 dual T1 radio transporting a full T1 of data to the NetVanta 3200 access router and full T1 voice communications to the PBX or Total Access® 750. The NetVanta 3200 is a full-featured router that comes equipped with a stateful inspection firewall, integral DSU/CSU, and optional PBX port, at a cost that's up to 55 percent less than competing routers. The Total Access 750 is a low-cost, modular, grow-as-you-go integrated access device that supports voice (up to 24 DSO's), data, and converged voice/data over T1 networks.
Point-to-Point Access Routing for Branch Office Connectivity
The NetVanta 3000 series of access routers from ADTRAN offers the most cost-effective way to connect branch offices together using point-to-point circuits. These versatile, modular platforms are full-featured, low-cost alternatives to other brand name routers. They include a single slot used to house a variety of interchangeable Network Interface Modules (NIM's) and Dial Backup Interface Modules (DIM's).
In this example, this corporate site house a NetVanta 3205 connecting a full T1 to a public TDM network. This connection requires a T1/FT1 with DSX-1 NIM to carry digital voice and data. At the branch office, an additional T1 is needed to carry both digital voice and data traffic. This requires the T1 and the DSX-1 interface is used to drop-off the digital voice to a local PBX. Also the NetVanta 3200 routers will have a built-in firewall thereby ensuring network security. If you wish to have a more secure network, we recommend the Wireless Disaster Recovery/Emergency Service Restoral.
ADTRAN Tracer WLS 4103-A will provide you with 2xT1, which is much faster than your requirement of 768Kbps overall. Following is the list of a few of the features the 2xT1 will provide.
Integrated 1U Rackmount 2xT1 2.4GHz Systems
The solution will also include two RF cables, one for Norfolk HQ and Virginia Beach each connecting to Newport News. The 2 RF cables will have a distance of 30 miles and 2xT1 connection overall for the network, both RF cable will externally connect on the roof and they will be weatherproofed in case of hazardous weather conditions.
ADTRAN provides integrated access devices that allow a cost effective deployment of voice and data services at the customer's premises. ADTRAN answers this call with the Total Access 750 product line. The Total Access 750, a low-cost integrated access device, allows service providers a means to offer combined voice and data traffic over a single T1 terminating at a customer's premises. The Total Access 750 supports a broad service including analog voice (FXO/FXS), Fractional T1, ISDN and DDS.
The Total Access 750 provides seven slots for the user to combine a variety of voice and data services based on the specific requirements of each application. Up to six Quad FXS or FXO access modules, provide up to 24 analog voice lines. Data options include a Fractional T1 port, as well as DDS, ISDN, and Nx56/64 access modules.
The wireless point-to-point solution meets and exceeds most of the requirements required by the MATS Wireless MAN team, therefore we recommend this solution based on your RFP.
Thank you for choosing ADTRAN, Inc.
