Haedong Kumdo launch in South Africa

The sleepy town of Parys was the scene of a beautiful exhibition of ancient Korean culture. Supreme Grandmaster Kim, Jeong Seong from the United World Haedong Kumdo Federation jetted into South Africa from his home base in Busan Korea last Wednesday and spent the following weekend training with South African students and exhibiting his unique form of "Ancient land of the East Sea (Korea) sword art" - Haedong Kumdo.

Grandmaster Kim is a legend in his home province of Busan in Korea where he is acknowledged as the leading authority in this exciting sword art. He is particularly famous for pioneering the use of two swords in forms and demonstrations and is in great demand having exhibited his talents all over the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and Korea. Grandmaster Kim is a 9th Dan in Haedong Kumdo and the President and founder of the World Haedong Kumdo Federation. |

Grandmaster Kim was in the
country at the invitation of Grandmaster Eddie Jacobsen the President
of the Martial Arts Authority of South Africa and founder and president
of Combat Tang Soo Do South Africa, the famous empty hand Korean fighting
art. Grandmaster Jacobsen, having spent time in Korea in 2003 and
joining Grandmaster Kim on his travels to Scotland and Holland last
year, has been graded to the rank of 7th Dan in Haedong Kumdo and
is Grandmaster Kim's technical advisor in Africa and Europe - a unique
honour.

Grandmaster Kim stressed the uniqueness of the event as being the first of its kind in South Africa and his hope that the instructors and students would continue the spread of this Korean Sword Art throughout the country. He is continuing on to England and Scotland, accompanied by Master Jacobsen before returning to Korea after a very successful South African leg of his journey.
