The Legend of Zelda: Spirits of Darkness

- Chapter 3 -
The Search for Saria

Link stepped outside of Kokiri forest onto the bridge leading to Hyrule Field. His pace soon slowed and he then stopped. He turned back to Forest and looked at the bridge. He was beginning to remember something. He saw a vision of a Korikian girl standing on the bridge holding an ocarina. It was Saria. He had remembered when she had given him her fairy ocarina as sign of their friendship. He had made a promise not to forget her that day, and he knew that he would not. He began running back into the forest and headed for the Lost Woods.

When he reached the entrance, he stood confused. He did not remember where to go and what was which way. However, somehow, something guided him in the right direction every step of the way. Eventually he reached an area where there was a tall tree with long outstretched branches. He decided to rest and take a brake under the tree. To his astonishment he saw a familiar creature hanging from the tree. It was Kaepora Gaebora, the mysterious owl that he had met before on his various quests.

“Link, straight ahead of us lies the Sacred Forest Meadow, the holiest area in all of the Lost Woods,” Kaepora Gaebora explained. “There, lies the guardian sage of the forest, a very important figure in your life. However you are not likely to remember all that this being has done for you, but will remember her great friendship.”

“Saria, was always a wonderful friend,” Link said aloud. He stood up from his crouched position and faced the owl. “If only I could have known her better, I wonder if she even remembers me now.”

“Do not worry, I have a feeling she could not forget you. A sages mind is very powerful. I know that you will find your way Link. So enter the Sacred Meadow, and search for your friend.” With this the owl flew away as Link bid him farewell.
